Basel Preview: Glashtte Original Limited Edition Senator Observer 1911 – Julius Assmann
Ahead of Baselworld 2012, Glashtte Original presents the Limited Edition Senator Observer 1911 – Julius Assmann. This timepiece, handmade in the firm's manufactory, is limited to 25 pieces and pays homage to the pioneering spirit of Julius Assmann and Roald Amundsen. Find wallpaper images inside. Julius Assmann started his company at the age of 25 and is revered today as one of the founding fathers of watchmaking in Glashtte. Pocket watches, chronometers and observation watches crafted by Assmann and his employees were to play a significant role in establishing the company's far-reaching reputation: the observation watches in particular were known for their remarkable precision and superior craftsmanship. In 1907/08, the young Glashtte watchmaker Paul L?we crafted a watch that proved to be exceptionally precise, and he was urged to send it for testing to the German Naval Observatory in Hamburg, the institute officially responsible for testing and certifying the accuracy of nav
First AP: Royal Oak or RO Chrono?
I am thinking about picking up my first AP. I have long been a Panerai Collector and am thinking about venturing into the world of AP. I thought I wanted a ROO at first, but after looking at a bunch, I have decided that I like the clean lines of the normal Royal Oak or RO chrono. I understand that the Chrono does not have an in house movement, and I can live with that since I am used to the Older Panerai's having the same thing. I am a bit torn between the 41mm black dial Royal Oak and the same black dial Chrono. Any opinions or suggestions? Thanks in Advance.Jordan
Anyone wear a TT Constellation "Double Eagle"?
Just wondering about the popularity of this particular watch.
No more Arabic number lume on Aquanaut 5167/A?? Please post your lume pics!
Hey guys,I'm on the fast track at acquiring my grail watch....the 5167/A. However, a local AD who hasn't had any inventory since the middle of 2012 indicated to me that newly produced 5167/A (after mid-year 2012) are NOT carrying Arabic number lume???Is this correct??One amazing characteristic of this watch that I truly appreciate is the AMAZING lume, far superior than any Rolex/Tudor I have owned.Could you guys post some lume shots of your 5167/A for me?? Thanks for your help on this issue, if it is true, I'm gonna have to track down an older 5167/A.Regards, David
Where to buy straps???
Hi,I've finally made my dive into Panerai and couldn't be happier. I chose the PAM388 as I wear a suit daily to work so the dressier style fits. Date was a necessity as well, very happy. However, the Rad only comes with the black alligator leather strap which I love. I obviously need at least a brown strap for blue suits, etc. 1) Where do most folks buy their Panerai straps? I'm OK with going direct, but obviously pricey. 2) Any good advice on how to obtain one of the strap changing tools that come with the Luminor models? Thanks in advance. Cheers,Jimmy
