Inspired by Aviation: Introducing the Montblanc 1858 Collection
Montblanc recently launched a new collection called 1858, inspired by 1930s pilots’ watches from the brand’s archives. At launch, two models have been announced, the?1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition, in gold, and the?1858 Small Second Limited Edition, in steel. The first model is the 1858 Small Second Limited Edition comes in a 44-mm-diameter by 10.95-mm-thick stainless steel case and features a?large-diameter (37.2 mm) hand-wound movement reminiscent of those in pocketwatches from the same time period. The 17-jewel, 3-Hz (21,600 vph) caliber powers the watch and is visible through the sapphire caseback. It carries a power reserve of 46 hours.Montblanc 1858 Small Second Limited Edition in steelThe matte black dial with large, printed luminous Arabic hour markers C along with similarly large rhodium-plated?poire squelette?hour and minute hands C is both attractive and easy to read. At 6 o'clock, the Arabic hour numeral has been omitted to fit the small seconds subd
Swiss Army Original Chronograph Watch
Over the summer of 2011 Swiss Army Victorinox released a new version of their "Original watch" that I covered here. It was a modern rendition of the original watch that put the brand on the map. Retaining the good looks and legible dial, the "new" Original watch is more modern in its looks and presentation. Now just a little bit later Swiss Army Victorinox announces and will soon release a chronograph version of the Swiss Army Original. In case it was not obvious, the watch will be called the Swiss Army Original Chronograph. As you can tell, in comparison to the three-hand Original model the Chronograph features a slightly different dial. This is all due to the addition of the chronograph subdials. While they don't specifically mention it, I think that Swiss Army is using an ETA quartz chronograph movement. It is certainly a Swiss made quartz movement at the least. My favorite part of the Original Chronograph is the integration of the chronograph pushers. The large rounded push-pieces lo
The new Glashutte Original watch is encircled by a bezel
Imbued with a sensory appeal, the novelty employs a 39.4mm stainless steel case. The new Glashutte Original watch is encircled by a bezel, which presents a shimmering play of 64 clear white diamonds. The jewels are kept company by a 3.0mm diamond, featured on the crown.
White or Blue - What do you prefer??
On a RO (any 15xxx) do you prefer a white dial or blue? Vote away and options as well please.
How old are you? Age of average Rolex enthusiast
Im 32 and I would have thought most gentlemen on this forum are 50+ but I have been seeing a lot of younger guys (in their 20s) express in their interest in Rolex. So I thought a poll would be interesting to see.
