Glashtte Original Senator Observer Adds Luminous Highlights for 2015
Several years ago, Glashtte Original introduced its first Senator Observer, a limited-edition, white-gold timepiece that celebrated the memory of German watchmaker Julius Assmann and famed explorer Roald Amundsen. It was modeled on the traditional observation watches (more widely known as “deck watches”) made in the German town of Glashtte, which were used by navigators to determine a ship’s position at sea. In 2012, an unlimited version in a stainless steel case with two dial options, made its debut. This year, the brand launches the first Glashtte Original Senator Observer with luminous material on its dial.Assmann was one of the legendary watchmakers who established the industry in Glashtte, located in the German state of Saxony. His firm specialized in the manufacture of observation watches and marine chronometers, which were renowned for their? precision and reliability, particularly under extreme weather conditions. Pioneering explorers such as Amundsen, who
Cartier Calibre Astrotourbillon Watch
Over the last few years my interest and respect for Cartier has really grown. Sure, a lot of their timepieces are mass produced, but they have a penchant for good, lasting design. No doubt I am not a fan of all of their watches, but little escapes from their manufacture without being really good for at least some people. Good design - as I am learning more and more - is not easy. Designing something to look outstanding and really cool for 5 minutes is really not that hard. Executing a design that looks good each time you look at it, for years, isn't so easy. In this department, Cartier has succeeded for a long time. I find myself wondering what their secret is.Interestingly enough, watches with "good" designs don't affect you right away. You might look at them a bit ambiguously at first. Then, after paying attention to them for a while, the quality of the design grows on you. I have never looked at a Cartier watch once and been like, "Winner!" It takes me a while to appreciate them. Incoming.......Omega Planet Ocean 600M 42mm
Well after much debate and vacillating back and forth, I FINALLY made the plunge and purchased a BNIB Omega PO 600m 42mm from a Trusted Seller here on the forum. I got it at a great price and traded in one of my Breitling to offset some of the pain.It bares mentioning, I was really concerned with the case thickness as everyone is well aware of, so it does not bare repeating. But I have to say that the main decisions for pulling the plug were two-fold. First, it was increasingly hard to find a well cared for previous model 2500-series PO, especially a 2500D model (just to obtain a thinner case size). And the more important factor was getting into a new timepiece with the newest 8500 movement. Obviously things like a ceramic bezel and improved bracelet didn't hurt the decision making either.Sooooooo......to that end, I am in day two of ownership and things are looking & feeling great. Bracelet was a piece of cake to adjust (2-links removed on each side) and so far I am very ple
A plain brown box
That s the way as PP ships its products no matter if new or usedI ve experienced some very slight accuracy problems in case of dial up(couple of seconds nothing major)and had a minor issue with the security clasp so i ve dropped my watch at my AD on the 2nd of February(this year🤓).I ve received a mail early this week that my watch ready for collection ,I ve picked up yesterday.Actually i ve expected a simple regulation not more specially knowing the extended service time customers experienced recently.Instead of a regulation PP did a full service on the watch and their jewellers strenghten the clasp closing mechanism. Please note the red mark on the crown -any idea what s that? All in all I m satisfied with the result and considering the full overhaul I find the return time very reasonable, some clients are complaining here since issues and service time i think it s fair to add the favourable experiences also.Enjoy your Sunday!
To trade or not trade????
Dear all,I have a 2012 5712/a in very good condition. Thinking of trading against a 5980/a (blue dial) 2009/12. I need to pay EUR 9000 in between or pherhaps part trade with my Hublot ice Bang. Would you do the trade at all? The recent appreciation in value have been steeper for the 5980 than the 5712 in my world. Is this a spread that will get wider you think? Always wanted a 5980 but still like the 5712.....????? What would you Guys do?Many thanks in advance...
