In-Depth: The Story Behind The Name 'Glashtte Original'
The road to Glashütte is long, winding and beautiful – just like the eponymous brand, Glashütte Original. HODINKEE recently visited Germany to learn more about how Glashütte Original is so intrinsically linked to German horological history. From the early 19th century with Glashütte’s four founding watchmaking fathers to the postwar German Democratic Republic (GDR) period, to the modern watchmaking renaissance we know so well today, watchmaking never stopped in Glashütte. Join me on a trip to Germany to learn what the “Original” in Glashütte Original really means. 1 OF 25 Road sign, entering Glashtte. Rough translation via Google: "Here lives the time, Glashtte wishes you a pleasant journey." History There is no better place to learn about the history of German watchmaking than the German Watchmaking Museum Glashütte. Located in the center of town, the museum now houses exhibits, a restorat
Another boring this or that thread but I need help!
Hi guys, here is my dilema I own a 26470OR and love it. But freaked out about wearing it because of fragile bezel, I already have a tiny scar on it and I cannt sleep because of my OCD!! Lol I have an opportunity to swap straight for the 44mm RG 26400RO which with the ceramic bezel I dont have to worry as much. I own a FC 44 as well and love it, so I figured I would keep my 42 and not use it as much. But now that this opportunity popped up my brain is racing!!!! 😬😬😬What would you guys do!!??Here is a pic of my 42And one of the 44 that I grabbed from the internet (please give credit to I believe its Anil Arjandas he has some awesome watches)All suggestions are good suggestions please help a buddy out, I cant concentrate at work!!' Lol I love both by the way!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Temporarily traded by Chrono Avenger
I've temporarily traded my Chrono Avenger for an Omega speedmaster Schumacher Legend on SS bracelet to a collector in Edmonton.Temporarily, meaning both sides have agreed that after two months and if one side decides to want their original babies back, we can do so.I'm waiting for the Speedmaster to arrive and see how it looks and feels. I'm particularly interested in the FP 3301 movement on it with the 9,6 and 3 subdial arrangement with the date at six o'clock. There were reported issues about chrono functionality due to the column wheel, but it has since fixed by Omega. Will post pictures when it comes and we'll see if after two months whether I long for my CA again.
Planet Ocean problems
Hi AllI have two watches a PO 42 mm bought new this year and a Rolex GMT II c also bought new this year. When I read the relevant forums I see alot of complaints about problems with the PO stopping/ breaking down etc and yet I rarely see any problems with a Rolex movement. To date I have had no problems with mine! But are Omega and PO's really that problematic? And are Rolex movements that much better?
