Ronnie Wood, Armin Strom, and Virgin Racing Team Up
Armin Strom, Official Timing Partner of the Virgin Racing Formula One Team, has announced that it will participate in an art project with the Ronnie Wood. Best known as a Rolling Stone, Ronnie is also an artist, and during 2011 he will paint a Virgin Racing Formula 1 car, an Armin Strom watch, and a Virgin Racing driver's helmet. The Armin Strom Art Watch will be auctioned at the 2011 Only Watch exhibition and sale in Monaco. After the September auction, a limited series of 25 watches, similar to the one created by Ronnie but crafted by Armin Strom, will be manufactured and offered for sale. The second part of the project, Ronnie's “Art Car” will be seen during the year at several public events as a static display, and a replica of the car may see action in non-F1 events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Armin Strom/Virgin Racing Art Car will ultimately be auctioned for the benefit of a charity in co-operation with Christie's at a gala event in late 2011.The Virg
Dillema..!
Here's the situation:Enjoying the new model AP Navy for 1,5 years now. Great watch!But... I am getting the 44mm steel ceramic offshore whatever hapens later this year. Prefer the looks and ceramic bezel. So this is a no breaner.I am thinking of trading my 2014 Navy plus cash for a precious metal piece. So what shall I do???Yellow gold Rolex Yachtmaster 2Or:Around 8K more and get:Rosegold 44mm OffshoreIf I go for the Offshore it means that I have both steel and gold version of this watch.Or is there something else I should consider?I like BIG watches (no Hublot fan)Here are pictures of my two candidates taken at two different AD's.The YM2 pic was taken 2 weeks ago and the AP about one year ago.All suggestions/advises are welcome.CHEERS!Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met behulp van Tapatalk
Cheapest place to buy Lange/Patek (USA/Aust/Hong Kong/Europe)
Hi all Just wondering what would be the cheapest place to buy a brand new A.Lange or Patek. I am doing a round the world trip next year so will be visiting a few places in Europe, LA and NYC. Will visit Hong Kong or Singapore if I have to as well Prices in Australia are pretty high, but so is the Australian Dollar so it might be worthwhile purchasing overseas. Currently: 1 AUD = 0.7558 Euro 1 AUD = 0.9957 USD 1 AUD = 7.742 HKD 1 AUD = 0.6403 GBP Unfortunately I do not have access to Lange and Patek prices overseas, but given that the list price of a Patek 5196R in Australia is about AUD $23,500, and in Hawaii, it is USD $19,400 + 4.7% tax in Hawaii (about a total of AUD $20,400) so there is already a significant saving there. Other countries may also offer a bigger (maybe smaller) dealer discount but may also include tax, so please let me know what these might possibly be so I can take it into account Thanks all!
Starting to Like the Datejust More
I know this is an old classic but its starting to grow on me more. It just may be a long term keeper.
Incoming - Explorer II 16570
Very happy to be heading into the Thanksgiving holiday with a new to me 16570. Here's my journey this this one: I tried on this model several years ago and really liked it. Thought it was the most comfortable Rolex/Tudor I had every worn, at least for my wrist. But I always felt that I wanted my Rolex (I only keep one in my collection, at least right now) to be a little dressier, so I stayed away, and opted for DJs and six digit GMTs (LN and BLNR). Enjoyed them all.But earlier this year I acquired a true dress watch (a humble but wonderful Nomos Orion), and that helped expand my horizons. I wear a suit pretty often, and with the Nomos to slide neatly under the cuff, I started to think about some of the sportier references that I always liked, but had shied away from.Enter the 16570. Comfy and rugged at the same time, easily readable,a second time zone, etc. Quasi vintage, or at least heading in that direction. And, in today's market, a relative bargain. Interestingly, it's th
