Couture 2015: Bell & Ross Courts Cigar Aficionados with Vintage WW1 Edicin Limitada
One of the most anticipated events at each year’s JCK and Couture watch and jewelry shows in Las Vegas is Bell & Ross’s Friday evening cocktail party at its villa in the Wynn. And one of my annual traditions is enjoying a fine cigar rolled on the premises by a skilled torcedor with Bell & Ross CEO and fellow cigar enthusiast Carlos Rossillo (the “Ross” in Bell & Ross) at the party. This year, the experience was extra special, since the cigar in question was an all-new, official Bell & Ross cigar a Nicaraguan puro made specifically to accompany the brand’s Vintage WW1 Edicion Limitada timepiece, packaged in a unique box that doubles as a humidor. The Bell & Ross Vintage WW1 Edicion, Limitada,?with its rich brown and rose-gold color scheme? is Rossillo’s attempt to blend the diverse but similarly tradition-rich worlds of watchmaking and cigar making. The 42-mm-diameter rose-gold case is fastened to the tobacco-brown alligator l
Jumbo vs Nautilus?
So, here's my dilemma (first world problem). I have been eying the Jumbo 15202 and was pretty sure it would be added to my collection. But I've tried on a few Patek's lately, and need some experienced assistance. I know there are a few forum members with both these pieces, so...Considering that my NEXT piece would be a Rose Gold AP or Patek... Should I currently:1) go with a SS Jumbo now and a RG 5712 power reserve in 5+ years 2) opt for a 5711 SS blue dial now and an AP RO RG Dual Time in 5+ yearsNote: the 5+ years is how soon I can convince the wife...Note2: both would be my first for each brand
Seriously Considering a Breitling
Guys/Gals,I've been considering a switch for a while, and recently started looking at Breitlings. I think they're really fantastic watches. Had one about 6-7 years ago and only sold it b/c the 34mm size started to feel small. At first it was the Colt GMT black dial, but after seeing it in person, the silver colored Arabics just don't pop enough for me against the dark dial. What really caught my eye is the Superocean! Not the one that has just been released, but the predecessor. Really nice! Love the all polished Professional bracelet (the one in the photo below has plastic covering the bracelet so it's hard to see), the white Arabics against the black dial, the heft, etc...nice and chunky I do like the version that was discontinued even before this one, but they're not easy to find NOS.Anyway, this is the one I've tried on....42mm. What do you think? Would love info/opinions/photos, etc regarding the SO.TIA!
Speedy Pro chrono function slows/stops the watch
Hi Guys,My Speedmaster Pro moon watch (saphire sandwich) kinda crapped out on me this morning. I haven't worn it for a couple of days, although I kept it wound (I was rotating it with my datejust). I put it on and started the chrono function and it got to about fifteen seconds when the whole thing ground to a halt! It's fully wound and if I start it now it'll run, but cause quite a substantial amount of time loss (approx a minute or two per hour). I can see the balance wheel slows when I start the chrono, and then speeds up when I stop it.The watch is a 2009 and hasn't been serviced yet, although I probably only wear/have the momement wound for six months out of the year.My suspicion is that the lubrication is failing causing more frictional losses in the gear train, and when the chronograph starts its too much for the main spring and it slows/halts the movement. What do you all reckon? Has anyone had experience with this kind of issue before?Cheers,Duncan.
