Throwback To The Past: it is 1977, quartz watches are still less than 10 years old; it's the year Star Wars hit theaters for the first timeand you are actually looking at, not a piece of science fiction, but what is nothing less than the most technically advanced wristwatch ever produced. Whether you love or hate what electronics have meant in watchmaking, there's no doubt that the development of electrical and electronic timepieces, from very early electrical pendulum clocks of the early 19th century to the first quartz clocks of the 1920s, to experimental electromechanical watches in the 1950s and '60s, changed horology forever. Today the word "smart watch" is one we all know, but this was the very first of that breed, from nearly 40 years ago. Whatever you may have thought the earliest smart watch was, I bet you were not expecting this marvelously geeky instrument (especially not from a vintage enthusiast who covers your weekly Bring A Loupe!). 5711, BLNR, and ....
Hello TRF:I currently have a 5711 and BLNR in my two watch collection and I'm in the market for another watch. I have owned many watches but find myself coming back to Patek and Rolex.The big question is what should be next?! I dress business casual to work and pretty casual on the weekends. I'd love to stay around $10k-ish so I'm thinking possibly a vintage Calatrava (preferably not a hobnail dial) or maybe a vintage Rolex like a 1601...Any recommendations for a Calatrava in that price range? (Slightly smaller sizes are okay with me). What reference number for the Calatrava? Which metal is best for retaining value? Suggestions of other watches to complement what I have are welcome if you feel there is something better than Calatrava/Vintage Rolex.Thanks in advance!

I am selling my flat in Paris and amongst other things have decided to��. Of course, get my 5712 back, well won't be the same but a BNIB like my first, and I have been thinking a lot about what third watch I should add, thought of a RM, 055 black or 35-01, but have realized I have not reached the level in my watch journey where I would feel comfortable wearing a 80-100K watch on the wrist, maybe one day when I'm older or my funds are much greater.Have also thought of getting the Lange Perpetual Datograph, but same having that kind of money on the wrist is a little too much for me at the moment, and the serious weight would bother me, also I'm not really a leather guy, and I don't think that it would look nice with a rubber strap, though a grey one might look cool with the grey fail, but animals it's out.I had also thought about getting an RG watch, AP at first either the 44 but I'm afraid it will be too heavy for me and as much as I love RG I'm french and for those who know the french w

PP5164 date display
Anyone with insight knowledge of how the date display on PP5164 Travel Time work? The date changes along the Local or Home time zone? Do you have any difficulties with the date if the two time zones is on different date? For example the Local date is 7 June 2015, but the Home time is 6 June because it is behind the local zone. Please share your thoughts. Thank you and very much appreciate.By the way I just got new PP 5164. It a great watch and the legibility is stunning.

Just received my new toshi strap!
HiJust wanted to share this little incoming for my 233. Color is storm grey with light stitching.I am really impressed by the quality of the strap!The leather is very flexible and robust at the same time, I love it.I want to get another one already.
