Celebrating The 100th Anniversary Of The First Chronometer Certified Wristwatch By Rolex
As proudly stated on their dials, all Rolex timepieces manufactured today are?certified chronometers, meaning that every single one of them has been?rigorously tested for?timekeeping accuracy. With that in mind, we could C and perhaps we do C take the accuracy of a Rolex watch for granted, so now let's take a look back in time and discover how Rolex have created?the first chronometer certificate wristwatch ever, tested and awarded?by the incredibly demanding Kew Observatory exactly 100?years ago. Those intrigued by the provenly superior accuracy of timepieces will surely?be familiar with COSC (Contr?le Officiel Suisse des Chronomtres), the official Swiss chronometer testing institute that has been issuing certificates since 1973. Patek mind games: separating the money from the watch
I've been collecting watches for about ten years. I've had over 100 watches of almost every brand, from Anonimo and Marathon to Doxa and Panerai. I always come back to Rolex. For a long time, my dream watch was a 5512 and I've been wearing one now for about 6 months. But lately, I became spellbound by the 5711. I've never owned a watch anywhere near as expensive as the 5711.I'm in a position to buy one if I could find one secondhand or get on a wait list. But I'm having kind of a watch crisis. Being able to spend $30K on a watch has been messing with my mind a lot. Now I look at, say, a 16610 - a watch I dreamed of for twenty years that I've now owned in multiple incarnations - and it seems rather diminutive. Why? I keep thinking, A 5711 is like wearing 6 16610s. I feel like the money is really blurring the line between ego and appreciation. It's like being able to afford one has the potential of turning me into an instant watch snob. I'm worried about how my thoughts have transitioned
Double Sealed meaning? And little brown box
I've been browsing around at Aquanauts and I'm slightly confused about the lingo. What does double and single sealed mean? What are those little brown boxes with the barcodes on them? Does that mean it was recently serviced by Patek? Please excuse me of my lack of knowledge on this subject. Any guidance would be much appreciated! All the best,Glenn
How to start looking?
Hi all! First post here. I just started collecting watches last year and I'm planning on getting a vintage DJ as my first Rolex (1601, 16013 etc).Question is, I have no idea how to start looking, or how to discern between good and bad sellers, or what the reasonable prices are, among other things.Would you guys have any advice for a newbie like me?Thanks!Quick edit: if this is better off being posted in the Vintage discussion, let me know and I'll gladly post there!
Omega launches e-commerce, what will Rolex do about it?
Omega started selling online in USA, how long will take for Rolex to go live? This boutique experience cuts a lot of sales, as there is no boutiques everywhere. Was this a right move from Omega? O think it nailed. Enviado de meu SM-G955F usando Tapatalk
