IN THE SHOP: Twelve New Vintage Watches For Sale, Including An Amazing Tudor 7032 With Box & Pap
It's that time of the week again, everyone! Yes, the HODINKEE Shop has been re-stocked with a dozen new vintage finds curated by the team here at HODINKEE. And as we said when we launched this initiative a few weeks back, what we've found for you are nothing if not honest, original examples of some truly special watches. Let's get into it. A 1940s Mono-Rattrapante Bovet Chronograph 1 OF 15 We'll start with one of the most fascinating watches of the lot – this Bovet Mono-Rattrapante. First of all, Bovet of the 1940s has very little, if anything, to do with the Bovet of today. Back then they were making elegant watches with classic designs and in the case of this wonderful Mono-Rattrapante, downright fascinating concepts. We all know what a rattrapante, or split-seconds, is, and all also know it is one of the holy grails of horology – a complication reserved for highest echelons of watchmaking, in particular back then! Harrods L.E. Green Dial
So, I was called by a friend to come over to Harrods as there may be something interesting for me Panerai related, I was intrigued and in the market for a new Panerai so popped in.Once I was there I was told that a limited Edition piece from Panerai was being made available and I was one of the first few people to be offerred the chance to buy it. It was described as being a Luminor case steel model with a dark green dial and gold hands (Harrods colours), dark green strap and steel bracelet, and had a limitation of 100 pieces. I was quite excited as the only other green dial Panerai I knew of was the Bronzo, and only 1piece had been reserved so I had pick of any number from a choice of 99.However, when I saw the actual picture of the watch I was slightly disappointed as the dial was one of those dials that has all of the numerals on it (like a Pam359). Unfortunately I have never liked this style of dial, just a personal preference, so I passed on the purchase which could haunt me in y
Rolex servicing in northern VA
Hello, I have inherited a Rolex Submariner from 1983. It was a family member's watch and has never been serviced. I would like to have it serviced and cleaned. Has anyone have experience with a local Rolex trained watchmaker in the northern VA region that can do the servicing and cleaning?I found two places:.watchmasters.net/rolex-watch-service.html.johnalabasterwatchandclock/ Anyone have anything good/bad to say about either one? Or has anyone have experience with the typical mall ADs at Tysons Mall?I have searched and saw the many threads on the RSCs, Dallas vs NY, and it seems Dallas has a lot more positive reviews than NY. I also cotnacted Bob Ridley but he gave me an estimate of between $750 to $1800.
