Right now, September 9, 2015, on Reddit, watches-dealer founder and Editor-in-Chief Ariel Adams is hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on the /r/Watches SubReddit area. We mentioned this upcoming Ariel Adams AMA a couple of days ago and discussed it more here. This is an opportunity to ask whatever you like about the watch industry, collecting, blogging, and watches-dealer. Questions have been accumulating since yesterday, and Ariel Adams will spend a few hours today and perhaps tomorrow answering as many of the questions as possible.Join the Ariel Adams AMA on Reddit here today September 9, 2015.
Astronaut Mark Kelly Interview: "Watches Are Necessary In My Profession"
Mark Kelly probably started to get annoyed as I shot questions at him while we were stuck in the backseat of a van. I've learned the hard way that not everyone wants to talk about work all the time. He was a good sport though, and even agreed to speak with me again. How do you stop asking questions to an astronaut? A famous one at that. Interesting trivia: Mark not only has an identical brother, but his twin, Scott, is also an astronaut. The good news in light of my pestering fanboy questions is that Mr. Kelly is a watch guy. Perhaps not in the way many of us are (with our intimate awareness of many brands and models), but he is the type of guy many of the watches we like are said to be designed for. For Mark, watches are tools. Essential tools, but also ones that can look good while doing their job.Mark Kelly has a few points of fame. In the last few years he has been in the news because of his wife, Congresswoman Representative Gabby Giffords. A rather remarkable lady, Giffords bravel
Hands-On: The Ultra-Rare Panerai Bronze 1000 Meter Prototype, Coming Up At Christie's New York This Week
One of the most unusual watches we’ve seen in a while is this bronze prototype – rated to 1000 meters’ water resistance – made by Officine Panerai in the mid-1980s, as part of a project to develop dive watches for the Diver Corps of the Italian Navy; the watch is going up for auction this week from Christie’s. It’s a pretty rare bird, but for our money what really takes it to the next level is that it’s a fantastic example of how utilitarian design can, when pushed far enough, transcend itself and produce something really exciting aesthetically, which is fundamentally what the appeal of Panerai is all about. 1 OF 4 Before getting into aesthetics, just from the standpoint of objective rarity and historical importance, it’s a pretty remarkable piece and would probably attract a great deal of attention. The story goes that in the early '80’s, Panerai’s chief of mechanical engineering, the famous Mr. Alessandro B
AP RO debate 14500 or 26320
Hi Everybody,Been lurking here for a while, my heart is set out for an AP 14500ST or AP ROC 26320ST.But for the life of me I cannot find a proper review of the 2632.Can anybody shed some light into the matter?Thank you!
Had that, sold that, got this.
I had a DJ II, blue dial, fluted bezel for a while. It was a great watch, I had no issues with it and enjoyed the way the light played off the bezel. However, I decided to reduce the amount of money I had tied up in watches and sold it along with some other pieces.Turns out that I still wanted a blue dial, fixed bezel watch as part of the collection and finally decided on a replacement for the DJ.It arrived yesterday.I love the dial on this, both the color and the markers. This is the 41.5mm version of the Skyfall.Just got here, but looks like it will fill the blue dial, fixed bezel niche quite nicely.
