My Japan's Watch Revival: The Lexus Effect Article On AskMen.com
This was an important article for me to write as the concept of luxury Japanese watches has been on my mind a lot lately. I think you'll find it an interesting read. It rather well accumulates my dispersed thoughts on this topic of global sold Japanese luxury watches and our perception on them.See my Japan's Watch Revival: The Lexus Effect article on AskMenwatches-dealer here. First AP
Got my first AP today (pre-owned 25730). For my 6.3 wrist a 37mm works better for most ocassions. I was seriously tempted by a 39mm 26300, but the better fit and versatility of the 37mm for my wrist size won out (for now). Also considered the 15450, but decided I preferred the more casual look and the usefulness of the second time zone (and the blue 15450 isn't available). Very few photos do justice (mine certainly doesn't) to the beauty and level of finishing of an AP. Have a feeling this watch will get more than it's fair share of wrist time for a little while.
so different - but which one!!
they are both so different, albeit both superb - yet bank will allow the acquisition of one piece - which would it be?
Just dropped my PAM off for its first service
I just dropped of my PAM00312 for its first service though the Panerai boutique. I was quoted $300 over the phone for a full maintenance, but when I got to the boutique, I was told (by someone else) that it would be around $600 for the full service. Does this sound about right? I wanted to make sure they would be able to polish the scratches out of the bezel, which they said they could and it would be in pristine condition, but I'm throwing around the idea of just getting a replacement bezel for an additional $150.
First ever sighting?
The great actor Robert Culp in the absolutely brilliant 1960's TV series'I Spy' was the first person I ever noticed wearing, what I was later to discover, was a Rolex GMT. 'Till then I hadn't even heard of Rolex. Then, one Saturday afternoon in 1967, my young face pressed against the glass, I saw it, the GMT MASTER smiling at me from the local jewellers window, and I knew it was 'the one'.Leap forward to 1972, Bond St. London, and I slipped it nervously onto my wristand haven't stopped looking at a GMT face since................ Just to tell the time, obviously. What was your earliest Rolex 'sighting'?
