My first vintage watch was a?Cartier Santos Dumont?C?a small, handsome, time-only yellow gold model from the 1960s that introduced me to the wide, wide world of vintage watch research.?I became fixated on this watch for a myriad of reasons, but most certainly because I knew Cartier as a watchmaker?and this particular watch?harkened back to both the early days of the maison?and the early commercial history of wristwatches in general. Understated?
Just acquired this WG DD 40 and I'm really enjoying it; the size, craftsmanship, heft, glow of the WG, etc, etc.I feel like it's a really understated piece. I wear it with dress shirts as well as tee shirts and feel like it really flies under the radar, looking much like a garden-variety DJ or maybe even a knock-off to the non-WIS.The wife feels differently, calling it maybe a little blingy.Thoughts?
