Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Grand Prix Watches
This year Audemars Piguet is of the brands releasing a lot of new watches. The most visually exciting of which is this Royal Oak Offshore Grand Prix watch collection. Each is in a limited edition, so these aren't permanent additions to the collection. There are three luxurious versions and I have for you the hands-on experience. Let's start with the basic options. Each has ceramic and lots of forged carbon, but I will get to that in a bit. You have a choice of complimenting it with titanium, 18k pink gold, or platinum. These come in a limited edition of 1750 pieces, 650 pieces, and 75 pieces, respectively. Clearly titanium is going to be the biggest and most affordable seller, and I will explain why.The "new" luxury watch doesn't need to be a giant paper weight. Sure it can be heavy as is typically valued, but lightness is in. Years of giant metal watches have consumers lashing back, not for smaller watches, but for ones that are lighter. Halios Tropik B Review
In the world of micro-brand dive watches, originality is often hard to find. Sure, on the pricier end of the scale one can find companies like UTS making unique and reliable divers. On the lower end, however, most boutique brands offer watches that, while certainly affordable and well made, lack a certain creative spark. If not outright homages, many implement tried and true design elements or use off-the-shelf cases, resulting in timepieces that cannibalize one another and already existing popular models. That's where Halios comes in. Founded by Jason Lim, Halios is a brand out of Vancouver that's developed a real following by those in the know in the watch community. That's because Halios is beloved for their original dive watches (remember the "Puck?") developed from the ground up and sold to you at a fraction of the cost. And their watches are limited productions, so once they're gone, they're truly gone.2013 was a big year for Halios, announcing not one, but three models: the Tropi
Am I the only one who likes the cal 324 rotor noise?
Recently picked up an aquanaut while Waiting for the nautilus and noticed the zipping sound of the rotor. It kind of reminds me of the 7750 movements where you can feel the rotor spinning. I can actually feel the rotor a little on the 5167, too, if I pay close attention.I like it as it makes the watch feel alive, if that makes sense.Anyone here share the sentiment? I guess the 5711 has it too, as it shares the same movement? Some pics of the 5167': (as I know you guys like pics)
