Watch Spotting: Roger Smith Wearing A Vintage Omega Seamaster Chronograph At The Screening Of The Watchmaker's Apprentice
Last night at Tribeca Cinemas in New York City, we were proud to attend the NY premiere of David Armstrong's The Watchmaker's Apprentice. The documentary film, shot in very last days of master watchmaker George Daniels' life, goes on to tells us not only of Daniels' contributions to horology, but also his relationship with his one and only true apprentice – Mr. Roger Smith. We'll have a recap of last night's events shortly, but first, we wanted to tell you what Roger Smith, arguably one of the finest watchmakers alive, was wearing. It might surprise you. 1 OF 1 One might assume Mr. Smith would be wearing one of his own watches – maybe a Series 2 or a Daniels Anniversary watch? Not so. Information wanted on this steel Patek
When my father passed 2 years ago he left behind this beautiful Patek. I know that he inherited it from his father who passed in 99'. Neither one ever wore the watch, and it has been collecting dust for decades. This has however, kept it in a pristine condition. I am fairly certain that the watch is made of stainless steel, as I've compared the colour of it with both other SS items aswell as WG and P.There is a few things that I would like to know.1. What reference is this? 2. Where shall I go to replace the awful aftermarket bracelet with a leather strap + buckle? I'm from Sweden and have no AD's nearby. However, I will be visiting Geneva in ~2 weeks to visit CERN with my school. It might seem strange that I have never researched this watch thoroughly before as I'm addicted to watches haha, but I'm one out of two sons who both want it and we are yet come up with some sort of idea how to settle this. Therefore, the watch remains unworn and is rarely on my mind.
