Similar contrasts are peculiar to Alain Silberstein watches
The watchmaker rightly chose the time to enter the watch manufacturers arena. Japanese and Italian specialists were attracted by his watches on the first exhibition in Basel in 1987.For the first time his unique style became apparent in 1988 when the Master created a dial with red, blue and yellow hands, a colorful mechanical knob and buttons. Similar contrasts are peculiar to Alain Silberstein watches and make them beautiful and unique.
The Value Proposition: The Amazing, Incredible, And Semi-Affordable, Atmos Clock From Jaeger-LeCoult
As the current new guy at HODINKEE, it gives me no small pleasure to introduce – I should say, re-introduce – an old reader favorite: The Value Proposition. It’s been on hiatus for some time but you’ve asked us repeatedly to bring it back, and we listened. In Value Proposition we bring you a look at some of horology’s biggest and best bang-for-the-buck – timepieces that, in a world where price increases have for over a decade shut more and more out of enjoying mechanical horology, really over deliver in the value department. In general this means things in the under $10,000 category but at the same time, you might see us occasionally cover something like, say, a $15,000 minute repeater that sounds as nice as a $300,000 chiming complication, which seems unlikely, but hey, if it exists, you’ll read about it here first.Today, let’s talk about the Atmos clock, from Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Atmos is nothing more nor less than one of the absolute c
Purest form of luxury?
Having this piece of finely crafted steel on my wrist for past 2 weeks, I have the thought that Royal Oak perhaps the purest form of luxury watch with evergreen industrial design. Especially the silver dial RO.A no-nonsense tool watch from afar but intrinsically a piece of jewellery due to micro details. The design of the dial, bezel, case, bracelet and movement formed the complete package. Is it a tool watch or a sport watch? Or perhaps even a dress watch? That depends on how it’s being worn. The watch is basically a perfect canvas for owner to put on their marks. Or scratches
Your first Patek
I guess I'm more of a sports watch type guy. Here's my first one.Only time will tell if this leads to more.
228239 White Dial
I'm a sucker for the Roman numeral dials. I've seen tons for DD40 offered for sale here with the blue dials and the anniversary green dials, but I don't think I've seen a WG white dial Roman offered. Is it not a popular watch or just the opposite? I'm thinking of adding that as my next piece if I can find it for the right price. On that note, what are your thoughts on a DJ 41 being offered with the white dial Romans? I saw that they added the slate dial green Romans in SS. Fingers are crossed they add the white Roman to the DJ41 lineup.
