Watch Insider Reviews IWC Big Pilots Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition Le Petit Prince
Recently I had the opportunity to get my hands on one of the most remarkable IWC watches of the last few years, the limited “Petit Prince” edition of IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar, introduced at the 2013 Hong Kong “Watches and Wonders” fair. In this article from my blog, Watch-Insider, I provide a review and original photos. This special edition combines beauty, elegance and mechanical craftsmanship done in-house. It is packed with technical highlights, including the IWC-manufactured 51613 caliber with Pellaton automatic winding and seven-day power reserve. The latter's display in the counter at 3 o'clock is a constant reminder of the movement's high efficiency. It generates enough energy to fuel a wealth of watchmaking complications, including the perpetual calendar with its four-digit year display as well as displays for the date, day and month. All the displays are easily adjusted via the crown and advance automatically.?According to IWC, the
Introducing: The Girard-Perregaux Laureato 2016 (Could This Be The Watch That Puts GP Back On Top?)
If there were a special Academy (or whomever) Award for most underappreciated watch brand, at least in the U.S., I am pretty sure that Girard-Perregaux would be on the list. At least on paper, they tick all the boxes – great in-house movements (that have been found, over the years, in one form or another, in a lot of other brands’ watches) and a fantastic history, as well as some very iconic designs. Part of the problem is that one of their most recognized, and recognizable, watches is very much at the high end: the Three Golden Bridges Tourbillon, and its variations; another part of the problem is that they’ve never really had a breakout, long-lived modern success that’s become ubiquitous in the same way as, say, the Submariner, or the Tudor Black Bay, or the Royal Oak. And yet, they do have a watch in their history that could very easily become that watch for the brand: the Laureato, which they've relaunched this year, in near-exact reproduction of the fir
Navitimer "joining the Breitling ranks soon"
I just put a Navitimer World on layaway. I intend to pick it up soon. The 46mm diameter dial is larger than anything else I currently have. Thats part of the reason I like it. The whole look of the dial with the slide rule function and red GMT hand is why I fell so hard for it.Ah the wait begins, the sweet feeling of anticipation........................
To rubber or not to rubber....
I would like to have a different look to my watch....any suggestions on straps...pics and if allowed, pricing as well. Thanks in advance...
Scratches on Submariner second hand?
I was cleaning my watch today and noticed what looks like scratches on the second hand. I'm curious to know if anyone else has noticed something like this on their watch. It's only really visible under magnification which I know is OCD but just wanted to see if this was considered normal or not. Was very difficult to photograph and definitely is not a reflection or glare. See photo below:
