Images from WatchTime’s NYC Hublot Event
This past Tuesday night, a select group of WatchTime friends attended an invitation-only event with Hublot at the elegant Park Avenue Autumn restaurant in Manhattan. About 50 attendees enjoyed an evening of delicious food and wine, fabulous watches, and a chance to meet Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver, U.S. president Beatrice de Quervain, Hublot’s Mike Margolis, and WatchTime editors Joe Thompson, Mark Bernardo and Amy Bernstein. Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception and an opportunity to meet top Hublot executives, and to try on Hublot’s newest models and rare high complications. Following cocktails, dinner was served, and Mr. Biver gave an entertaining and informative presentation. Each attendee made a generous contribution, the entire proceeds of which were donated to Smile Train, an organization providing free cleft surgery for poor children in developing countries. And now, some images from the evening, which you may enlarge with a click. The venue. The Omega that started it all...
My father passed away when I was very young. A few years ago while I was cleaning out my storage I discovered a box that my mom had given me of some of his manly belongings. One of the items inside was this Omega DeVille from the 60s or 70s:20140531_193956.jpgAt the time, I had just become interested in mechanical watches, so I naturally wound it up. It started running again, for the first time in over 30 years, seamlessly, flawlessly, and in that moment I felt my father's dreams and aspirations had been inherited. An absolutely magical moment for me.20140531_193726.jpgSince then I've added many nicer watches to my collection, but I always come back to this one being my favorite. I can't think of anything better than a meaningful timepiece to pass to my own son, and he to his.20140531_193655.jpg
omega clasp too tight
I purchased a speedy bracelet from ebay for my speedy pro 3570.50. Paid a pretty penny for it too. The bracelet is the older style 1498 with 840 end links.I am trying to figure out whether it is genuine or whether I got suckered into a fake.Reason why I feel something is not right is the clasp. The clasp is very stiff. It actually hurts my thumb trying to open the clasp, and it hurts my wrist when trying to lock it in. It is bloody tight! Are the omega clasps meant to be this bloody tight?
Can you help me ID this pocket Patek P?
This is what's written on it: Patek Philippe & CieGeneveF. Michaelsen. RomeNot sure about opening it up to show the movement... I don't want to mess it all up.Thanks in advance. How much would it be nowadays? I'm thinking about bringing it to maintenance.
