Showing at WatchTime New York 2015: New Watches from Mhle and MeisterSinger
We’re just a few days away from the kickoff of America’s largest luxury watch show, WatchTime New York, at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall on October 23-24 (Click here for event details and to purchase tickets). More than 20 watch brands will be displaying new timepieces, including two distinctive boutique brands from Germany, Mhle Glashtte and MeisterSinger. The highlight watch for family-owned Muhle is the new Robert Mhle Auf/Ab, which adds a new complication to the brand’s collection. The watch’s name comes from its “Auf/Ab” circular power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, which displays to the wearer how much of the watch’s 56-hour power reserve remains before it stops. In the classical Glashtte watchmaking tradition, “Auf” (meaning “up”) means that the movement is fully wound, while “Ab” (“down”) means that is has fully run down. The movement is Muhle’s Caliber RMK 01, with an all
Baselworld 2015: Blancpain Villeret Grand Date (Updated with Live Photos)
At Baselworld 2015, Blancpain adds a new watch to the Villeret Collection: the Blancpain Villeret Grand Date. It will be the first big-date watch in the Villeret line, and it recasts a caliber that Blancpain presented in 2005.The Grand Date is built on Caliber 6950, an automatic movement that is 32 mm wide and 4.75 mm thick. The 6950 has two mainspring barrels for a 72-hour power reserve. The movement has 285 components, among them 35 jewels. The big-date mechanism is designed to shift instantly at midnight. Caliber 6950 has a free-sprung Glucydur balance wheel and gold screws for fine adjustment. The balance spring is made of silicon. The dial has a subtle sense of depth. Rose-gold hands for the hour, minutes and seconds sit atop a silvered opaline dial. The hour and minutes hands are thickest at the middle, where they bear luminous material, before tapering out. The applied Roman numeral indexes for the hours emerge from the dial to give a greater three-dimensionality. The two windows

First of all, let me tell you that there is a watch giveaway in this podcast episode. You'll need to listen and then comment on the HourTimeShowwatches-dealer website to enter for a chance to win.We also discuss the aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer Limited Edition Watch Winder by Wolf Designs (that you should probably get), Hublot, A. Lange & Sohne, and the question of whether or not educated watch buyers are more valuable customers, per my recent study and article on that topic.Listen to the HourTime Show Watch Podcast Episode 96 here.?Download the MP3.?
Interested in thoughts on a Breitling chronograph
A member here got me interested in the now-discontinued a13340 Breitling Superocean chronograph. I'm curious as to what folks here think of it, as compared to (for example) a Tudor 79260. The Breitling has a Caliber 13 movement, based on the well-known ETA Valjoux 7750 movement. My understanding is that Tudor has also used the 7750 for its chrono's from time to time. This Breitling has a vintage, golden-age-of-aviation (1930's) vibe that really appeals to me, especially on a Breitling leather Croc strap. If I can find a reasonably-priced one (mid 2's), think it's worth a try?
Another day, another PAM
This is probably my most comfortable 47mm on the wrist because of the low weight.
