Montblanc TimeWalker Dual Carbon Chronograph
Montblanc combines two of the hottest case materials – DLC and red gold – to create the TimeWalker Dual Carbon Chronograph. If you don’t know, DLC stands for diamond-like carbon, and it produces an extremely corrosion-resistant coating with a hardness of 3,000 Vickers. By way of comparison, steel has a hardness of 230 Vickers. And Montblanc does not stop there. Unlike other brands using DLC, Montblanc employs a unique two-step process. In step one, the 43mm stainless steel case is hardened. A thermal treatment applied to the case surface fuses it with additional carbon atoms to increase the hardness of the exterior to as much as 1,000 Vickers. In step two, the black DLC coating is applied to the already-hardened surface. Both front and back crystals are sapphire, and the front crystal is domed with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Of course the crown incorporates an inlaid Montblanc signet. Inside the case resides an integrated automatic winding chronograph movem
Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, Space Race
The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch is among the most famous historic watches of all times, and it still happens to be produced today. Here is some more of the "back-story" behind the iconic watch: Chances are that at some point today you've used a satellite. Whether TV, phone or internet, your digital footprint will have probably graced the heavens, tossed about by a network of delicate machines that shoot around the ball of rock we call home at over 18,000mph. But, 1,071 successful satellite launches ago, there wasn't a single man-made device orbiting the Earth. Then, on October 4th, 1957, the starting pistol fired and the Space Race began. The launch of the Soviet Sputnik 1 took US President Dwight D. Eisenhower by such surprise that he coined the term sputnik crisis in response to Russia's success. But Sputnik wasn't the only game-changing creation of 1957; the other was in Switzerland, in the shadow of the Neuchatel mountains: the birth of the Omega Speedmaster. To complim
Movado Master Collection Watches: Readable Museum Watch Face!
The iconic Movado Museum watch finally gets a design overhaul that actually makes it a good watch. Movado can call it what they want, but this new watch is a pure evolution on the design that put Movado on the map for mainstream watch buyers. The Museum Watch face design that Movado purchased was a brilliant move that made for a great looking watch. Only problem was that barely anyone could read the thing. Over time the cases the showcased the watch kept changing, in the end it was still hard as hell to read watch. The new Movado Master Collection does not exactly advertise this fact, but I believe is the thematic new step for the look, combined with a healthy amount of industrial design in the case shape. When Movado puts effort into making a new watch, they would be dumb to limit it to one or two models. This new style will be for men and women, with all manners of decoration. The pictured model is one of the best. With an automatic movement and the clean smooth black sapphire (insert
