Rolex, Omega… Pulsar? New James Bond Watch Exhibit Focuses on the Quartz Era
To readers of Ian Fleming’s original James Bond novels and those who fondly recall the early Sean Connery films, Agent 007 will always be a Rolex man. To younger fans, who’ve known no cinematic Bond other than Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, Bond is inseparable from Omega. But a new exhibit at the National Watch and Clock Museum (NAWCC) in Columbia, PA, reveals that the British superspy has also strapped on a number of other brands throughout the years, including Seiko, Hamilton, and TAG Heuer, all outfitted with – gasp! – quartz movements.“James Bond Wore the Quartz Revolution,” which opens on June 3 at NAWCC, is curated by James Bond expert, founder of JamesBondWatches, and occasional WatchTime contributor Dell Deaton. The exhibit marks the first time that “screen-correct” models of all 12 quartz wristwatches worn in the James Bond films from the period spanning 1973 through 1995 will be assembled side by side and in running condit
Is META Watch Pursuing A Patent On All Analog/Digital Dial Smartwatches?
META Watch was co-founded by Bill Geiser, who earned his watch industry stripes while working at Fossil. Whatever you might say about Fossil products, what you need to know is that it is run by some extremely smart and professional people out of its Dallas, Texas, headquarters. Geiser went on to be one of the earliest proponents of modern smart watches. According to him, he has been wearing a Bluetooth connected watch for about five years now C perhaps the only one wearing one for so long. Today, Bill Geiser is the CEO of META Watch that recently released the Frank Nuovo-designed M1 smartwatch collection (hands-on here, with interview). Frank Nuovo is a former head of design at Nokia and designed the M1 collection C which I thought was actually pretty interesting.Anyhow, even though META is putting considerable resources behind the M1 smartwatch collection, it is only the start of what Bill feels are a series of major evolutionary steps for the smartwatch industry. META doesn't just wa
Quantity or Quality?
Hey guys,Need your expert opinion. I am currently contemplating of getting my grail in the form AP 15202 jumbo. Now I have a 15400 in blue, I love it nothing wrong with it but I just feel its a little on the big side for my smallish wrist. I have seen and fit the 15202 although not side by side my 15400. I think the size is perfect for me. So the question is, should I pursue my goal of 15202 or just add another to spice up the collection? Rolex and JLC Reverso comes to mind. For the price of my 15400 plus additional cash to fund for the jumbo, I can acquire a brand new Sub or Hulk or JLC ultra thin. Hence, the title, more variety or go for quality? Other watches:PAM 176, TAG Aquaracer, IWC spitfire chronoCheers!
Vintage Seamaster 30 on 1168 bracelet
I've been searching for a nice bracelet for my SM30 for a while now. finally, I found an 1168 with 605 end links. A very uncommon bracelet. Of course when I got it, it was one link too small. Damn. Luckily Ofrei had a spare and it arrived today. Fits perfectly. The he bracelet has a little stretch and there is some wear near the end links but I don't want that NOS look. A 50 year old watch should be on a bracelet of a similar vintage.
