Hublot Antikythera Calibre 2033-CH01 Watch Is A Re-Imagined Greek Masterpiece
One of the things I really appreciate about Hublot is that they don't do everything directly to sell watches. A lot of their events and projects are for charity or to further development in the horological world. Yes, of course, there is a branding element to each of these projects and it gets people write about the brand that might not otherwise cover a wrist watch story, but in the end it makes for a very dynamic Hublot.I recently joined Hublot for the official unveiling of the Antikythera movement that Mathias Buttet worked on making for the last several years. In French they call it the Anticythre, and the movement reference is the Calibre 2033-CH01. Lets start with some history, both recent and ancient. Before being at Hublot Mathias Buttet ran BNB Concept. When the economic crisis hit and BNB Concept went out of business, Hublot (a large customer of theirs) bought up much of their resources and hired Mathias. While still at BNB he was working on the replication (not exact in term
My last Speedmaster Pro....for now
Life feels pretty good today.I sourced a mint Soyuz (Speedeorite). It even had the stickers still on it.Man, this is an impressive dial. I also own a WG Daytona, but the Meteorite dial available for that watch just never did it for me in person. I find it lacking in contrast. This meteorite dial is another matter altogether. My speedmasters:1969 Mark II on MeshStandard issue Moonwatch on Hirsch RubberGemini IVSoyuz.I think i am satisfied....

Addressing Rolex " Under the Radar "
I have seen time and again folks looking for luxury watches in fine dress and sports models with one criteria in mind ... Under the Radar Ok, what does that mean ? You want to be incognito, discreet, modest, unnoticeable, blend in with the crowd, humble, ordinary, moderate, subtle, inconspicuous, understated, unobtrusive, low-key, subdued look, restrained look, prudent, stealth, undercover, covertand or surreptitious ... etc... Ok on and on you get the picture !!! Please forgive me if I've missed an adjective that fits your criteria... I tried to encompass most !!!My point is , if you want a Rolex ... If you want to wear a Rolex... All this mumbo jumbo stealth under the radar stuff actually flies out the window!!! Why ???Wear a Timex, Swatch or Casio if you want under the radar stealth opps!!! Rolex is not under the Radar no matter how much you psych your mind or want it to be ... Yes white gold or SS is less blingy but still Rolex! That said, most people don't even give a hoot about you
