Introducing: The Patek Philippe 5170R C The Classic Manually Wound Patek Goes Rose Gold
Okay, so nothing super new here, but this is the type of thing that will get a hardcore PP guy going C the 5170 has been shown in rose gold! The 5170 is, for the uninitiated, the classic manually wound, two-register, in-house chronograph from Patek Philippe. You can read a full review of it here. So what's the deal for the 5170R? Essentially you have the same watch as the last 5170G with black dial and leaf hands, but now in a rose case with silvery opaline dial (5170R-001), and black dial (5170R-010). The 5170G with white pulsation scale is now discontinued, though the black Breguet dial is still in limited production. 1 OF 2 We've got the same superb in-house, column-wheel chronograph, that same 39.4 mm case, and all the fixings you'd expect with a Patek of this stature. Price will be exactly the same as the 5170G, or just north of $80,000. More here and here. 2 OF 2 Follow us during Baselworld on HODINKEE Live, available on desktop, mobile, or in the free

AP Diver Ref 15703 - Ceramic Mod?!
Dont know if anyone has raised this one before but I have an idea to source the bezel from the ceramic or carbon diver, and slap it on a steel diver 15703 - Anyone know if this is possible at all and if it would even be possible to get the bezel directly from AP? I've heard people say that it's a no - go from AP side.Any input would be appreciated and if anyone knows where one might be able to get the bezel from feel free to send me a PM - ThanksbrgdsMorten
Omega Lume Questions...
I have a couple of questions regarding Omega lume. The lume on my old Seamaster and PO 2500 was of course, green and absolutely superb. The lume on my new Seamaster Ceramic and PO 8500 is blue, with green on the minute hands and lume pips and IMHO, isn't nearly as good as the old green lume.Question one: Why did Omega make this change? I know Rolex is using blue lume on some of their models now, too. Was it to try and keep up with them, or is there some reason blue lume would be better? It just isn't as bright.Question two: I read on a different Omega forum that Omega was using Seiko lume (Lumibrite?) This makes no sense. Lumibrite is Seiko's proprietary lume. I thought Omega would/does use Super Luminova. Please clarify. For comparison sake, below are lume pics of my old PO 2500 followed by my new PO 8500.TIA,-MarcPO 2500PO 8500
