Close-Up: Zenith Pilot Doublematic
Zenith is best known these days for chronograph watches powered by the high-frequency El Primero chronograph movement, which it introduced in the milestone horological year of 1969. However, one would have to go further back to discover that the brand also boasts a history of developing precision timekeeping instruments for aviation. In fact, French pilot Louis Blriot was wearing a Zenith when he crossed the English Channel in his aircraft, the Blriot XI, in July 1909. By 1939, the company’s Montre Aeronef Zenith Type 20 watch had become standard equipment on the dashboards of many French planes. It is timepieces such as these that inspired Zenith’s Pilot collection, which has become a major pillar for the brand since its launch back in 2012. Here’s a look back at one of the first, and still most distinctive, Zenith Pilot models, the Pilot Doublematic, which includes a world-time indicator and a mechanical alarm function. The first disk, on the flange of the dial, be
GREUBEL FORSEY Signature 1
The tourbillon is the watch muse for Greubel Forsey. Every single one of the timepieces made by the brand has had one, two or even four of this high precision mechanism. This year though, the duo are mixing things up. The Signature collection is taking the brand up a notch. The idea is that a guest watchmaker designs a timepiece. They may have free reign in their technical decisions but the piece must adhere to precise specifications regarding the quality of the technique and design that Greubel Forsey is known for. Didier Cretin, behind the Double Tourbillon Technique in 2009, is the first watchmaker to set out on the adventure. The long-term collaborator brings us the Signature 1 with a manual wind movement inside the smallest case to be made by the brand at 41.4mm. There's no complication, just an off-centre hour and minute display, subtle small seconds and balance wheel. Less is more. Price on request (33 gold and platinum models, 33 steel models). Dan Diaconu
The 2nd AP. So which ROO should i pick? Thx!
MY 1st/current AP is black dial 15300. and now ready for the 2nd AP for my collection. so i decided to get one ROO 42mm line since my wrist is only around 6.5 inches. And most watches in my collection that have black/dirty black dial. i do really like ROO RG rubber clad but i do not like the rubber bezel/rubber covered bezel (i just wish they did not cover it). So im thinking to get SS/Carbon one???

Had the pleasure of attending an Omega Boutique event in Atlanta last week with a good number of watch geeks from around GA and even one for South Carolina. The Omega team were gracious hosts, great watches new and vintage, adult beverages an overall a great time.
