Volna Volnatomic Watches Are Radioactive Art
Vonlatomic is a special collection of watches for the Volna watch brand by talented watch design Yvan Arpa. I've discussed Mr. Artya at length because I respect his masculine, artistic approach to watch design. The careful designer spends a lot of time thinking about the best way to execute his wild ideas. His work feels very much like an extension of himself. Each watch being something he himself would proudly wear - truly art for the artist. Many people don't like Yvan's creations. It is easy to be mystified by the thought behind the pop-art style, or sometimes just plain weird watches. In the middle, the pattern changes to look like a race track curve, a bit like a flag, or perhaps the Microsoft Windows logo (surely the latter).The 44-45mm wide case came in titanium or steel and was made in the 'carbon fiber' era (as I call it). In terms of case size, I am not totally sure, but I think the gold model was a bit larger than the titanium model. The bezel on the top and sides are all inlaid nicely with carbon fiber. This also applied to the chronograph pusher housings on sides of the watch. The chronograph pushers on this model were originally meant to look like gas pedals, but have since been used so much that forget their original theme. I love the woven stitching on the alligator strap. Supposed to look like a racing suit, but (especially on the titanium model) reminds me of a Spiderman web.

What will manufacturers do about exotic straps in CA?
It is currently illegal in CA to import certain animal parts for commercial purposes. But, starting 2015, these animals will include crocodiles or alligators... What will the manufacturers do on their watches that currently carry these type of animals on the straps by the year 2015? A few examples would be AP ROO and their hornback straps... or Panerai and their gator straps. Will manufacturers be forced to put a different kind of straps on these watches when they send them to California? Seems crazy to customize watches to that point just for the state of California. Patek 5711: Incoming
As you all know from my previous post, I've been in the market for a 5711. I've been visiting AD's and building a relationship, often hearing the waitlist is 1-2 years. I put a deposit down at a local AD, with an anticipated wait of 1 year. I later on decided that I'll just put my name down at another AD just in case (no deposit required). I later changed my mind and wanted a 5712. After some luck, a different AD told me that a 5712 (blue dial) is coming in and would have my name on it if I wanted so of course I agreed and put down a deposit. I got a call from the AD that I did not place a deposit with this week. He told me he had a 5711 (blue dial) come in and asked if I wanted it. Of course I couldn't turn it down! Long story long (joke), I often read the forums for advice about wait times for certain watches etc. and often see some people getting lucky. This time it was me! Now I have a delimma: keep both the 5711 and 5712 blue dial?! I guess this is a great problem to have! Officia

Was at Shreve in SF today. Lots of PM (including WG Pepsi) but only SS sport models they have in stock are a white dialed Milgauss, white Explorer II, and black Explorer. Not taking any more orders on BLNR or LN. 30 deep wait-list on SS Pepsi, and they expect to get one or two this year.
