WATCH WINNER REVIEW: Davosa Vanguard Automatic
As a special supplementary watch giveaway in June 2015, watches-dealer audience members had a chance to win a Davosa Vanguard Automatic watch. The winner, Anthony E. has followed-up with a watch winner review of his new watch below. Thanks to him and everyone who participates in watches-dealer giveaways.First and foremost, I am extremely fortunate and very proud to have won such a beautiful timepiece. My heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the watches-dealer and Massdrop teams for making this timepiece available in the contest. I actually became interested in the Davosa brand when I first saw it featured in the 2013 Wristwatch Annual catalog publication of fine timepieces and as luck would have it, you have made it possible for me to own Davosa's latest design. Thank you!Last but not least, I tip my hat to the Davosa team for creating the Davosa Vanguard model. The wristwatch is a cut above some of my other high-end watches in the same price range that include Maurice Lacroix, TAG He
Limited edition anniversary watches
Hi folks,Thought I'd share this: my AD has just celebrated their 150th anniversary. To commemorate this, Patek agreed to produce two special limited edition pieces for them. The watches are described as 5077-100G-013 and 5077-100G-018.The watches are crafted in 18ct white gold the gold dial is decorated with Art Deco sunflowers in cloisonn enamel with inclusion of 49 silver and gold spangles. The Bezel and lugs are set with 113 diamonds (approx. 0.8 carats), and is presented on a blue alligator strap with a white gold pin buckle set with 29 diamonds (approx. 0.22 carats).Unfortunately I never managed to see them in person. They came in and were sold (both) to the same collector. I believe they were priced at $92k each.Greg
Pam 510, amazingly quiet watch...
So I went to pick it up yesterday at my AD, first thing I noticed was the absence of ticking sounds, I was really drawn to the 8 Day power reserve.Next thing was the case, which looked slimmer to me as compared to the 111, and the slimmer lugs looked like it has more curvatureA welcome to me was the AR coating on the crystal, which improved the legibility at any angle. The strap was very Tudor-ish, soft and comfortable, but not burnished on the sides. Fraying of strap is imminent. An interesting addition to my stable of watches. Thanks for reading!
The Art of the Hunt
Longtime lurker here, suddenly with the ability to purchase a new Rolex. I was recently at my local AD and asked about any stainless sport models and from the back he brought out a new BLNR. I was overcome with joy, until I tried it on. It looked too small. I was deflated. I inquired about the SD43 and he politely informed me they do not have any and the waiting list was not taking additional names. I have very little experience with high end timepieces but I have tracked down some very elusive new cars with great success. My question is are there any techniques to finding your desired watch from an AD without just being lucky? My AD has 7 locations. Should I try asking at each location? I purchased a datejust for my wife's push present 3 years ago, so I do have a purchase history with them. Are there any AD's that might ship? I hate the fact this isn't an easy process but I know not to get discouraged. I really don't want to get one from a grey dealer. I know there is no real differen
Lie detector, speculations detector, what if detector and LETTER detector
With all the posts of my AD said , All the virtual letters , all the speculations of discontinuations, price hikes, new models and all the what if Aliens abducted the earth where should I hide my rolexes, I propose having a DETECTOR that picks any and all of the above and send them straight to rolex HQ to get stripped off all their watches!! And send them all to me
