Eberhard & Co Contograf Watch: Modern Vintage
With brands either digging into their back catalog or creating new watches with no prior references, there is?no shortage of watches being introduced as of late that hearken back to earlier eras. This means, for the modern watch enthusiast, that you can find a modern timepiece (with all its attendant quality, materials, and accuracy) that references (or even looks identical) to a watch from the era that you find yourself drawn to. In other words, you can go "vintage" without worrying about having to baby the piece. If 1960s sport watches are your thing, then Eberhard & Co has your ticket. The original Contograf was introduced in 1960, and its 2014 counterpart certainly carries forth the look. One of the more intriguing elements that they carried forth from the original can be found on the chronograph minutes register found over at 3 o'clock. It has bolder markings at the 3, 6, and 9 minute marks. This was put in place for timing phone calls - not something you'll use these days, I d

Omega Grade 5 titanium experiences?
I would like to know people's experiences concerning grade 5 titanium. Omega talk about the titanium being 'self healing'? Surely not?!What is it like to refinish? I can't imagine it differs too much from steel.Cheers
Omega Speedmaster 3572.50 replacement for Planet Ocean
Hello everyone,I have been using my Omega Planet Ocean for a daily wear for the past 1 1/2 year and just recently traded it in. Although I was used to it, wearing it everyday, I couldn't help but think that alot of it was unnecessary weight. I was looking at replacing it with an Omega Speedmaster 3572.50 with hesalite crystal and sapphire caseback as my daily wear. Does anyone have any input/opinions, or past experiences that can help me compare these 2 watches in terms of weight and how comfortable they sit on your wrist? Would the Speedmaster be a suitable replacement? My local dealer no longer carries Omega.
Problem with display back on my Omega 2254.50
Some of you may recall that I installed a Thomas Preik display back on my Explorer II. There was no problem with it other than it changed the way the watch sat on my wrist. It was not as comfortable as the original. And as the Rolex movements are not as nicely finished as most other watches, I sold the back and restored the original steel back. With the money from the sale, I ordered another display back from Thomas for my 2254.50 SMP. In error, he sent a back for a mid-size SMP. I notified him of the mistake and he immediately sent me the correct back. I returned the mid-size back to him.I installed the correct back myself and later took it to my watchmaker for pressure testing. It failed miserably. The Preik back was a half mm larger in diameter which prevented the back from sealing properly. My watchmaker offered to reduce the diameter with his lathe for a proper fit but I wanted to consult with Thomas before letting him do the work.I have now emailed Thomas four times (begi
