Van Barnett Time Machine Knife
This knife doesn't tell the time but it sure looks like it should. American artist and knife maker Van Barnett calls this steampunk style creation the Time Machine. It is a collectible hand-made knife with a lot of old-timey futuristic personality. Barnett incorporates watch parts into the beautifully cool folding knife creation - which are more or less sold out for years and made individually by him (often with meaningful personalizations for each buyer, according to his website). He makes only a four of these per year and is so sold out far enough that he isn't taking new orders.Barnett takes his time crafting each piece. The Time Machine blades are made from Damascus steel (which Barnett forges himself), and the bodies are made from various metals which include steel, brass, silver, gold, copper, and more. Orient watches are pretty synonymous with affordable mechanicals. In their ever-changing line up, not only are there the typical three hand models, but also models with power reserves, GMT and calendar complications, almost all of which cost under $1,000 dollars. Once upon a time you could find SS Sub's, Sub dates, GMT, Sea Dwellers and the like in AD windows and purchase over the counter as I'm lucky enough to have a SUB and GMT when you could. Are we now in an age where these will be like Daytonas and just not available to purchase in store going forward???
