Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Tourbillon Chronograph Watch
Ever since Carl F. Bucherer released their in-house made caliber A1000 movement in 2010 with a peripheral automatic rotor, I felt that more watches needed to integrate peripheral rotors in their mechanical movements. For 2014, Audemars Piguet releases a new ultra-high-end version of the Royal Oak Offshore with a new visible dial-mounted peripheral automatic rotor that exists in addition to a tourbillon and chronograph complication. What is a "dial-mounted peripheral automatic rotor?" Many of you know, but I just realized that non-watch lovers might have a difficult time understanding the concept. Automatic rotors are part of a mechanical watch's "self-winding" system and tend to be shaped like half circles placed on the rear of the movement. These half circle weights move with the motion of your wrist and wind the mainspring barrel that powers the watch movement. One issue that some aficionados have with automatic movements is that the rotors block a large part of the movement (even tho
The New DEFAKTO Modular Eins and Akkord
It has been nearly a year since we last had ran an article on one of our favorite German brands, Defakto, and we're excited to be the first to show you their newest goods. The design-focused brand, known for their one-handed watches, have a bold, but spare aesthetic that at once speaks to the Bauhaus and military designs. Their newest release stays true to the core style of the brand, but adds a new level of interest. The Modular series, which consists of new variations on their Eins and Akkord models, take their existing designs and dresses them up with a clever combination of materials and finishes. There are two varieties, one with a steel central case and one with bronze, both featuring black PVD bezel and crowns, both measuring 42mm. Both also have a semi-coarse brushing, giving them a subtle texture. Though an almost obvious play on the existing models, the new Modular colorway creates watches with a unique ambiance and style. Dark and handsome, the contrasting materials play off
How 'bout... yet more gold Royal Oaks?
Hello to TRF and the AP forum. I have been lurking around here for a while and have been enjoying all the photos and threads. As was suggested to me, and mostly because I enjoy participating in these kind of things, I wanted to poll your opinions on rose gold Royal Oaks. I have subscribed to the idea of having 2 or 3 really nice pieces that I wear regularly and I have decided that a Royal Oak must be one of them (maybe add a dress watch down the road). My current everyday watch is a white dial SS Daytona so looking for some variation and versatility. I don't mind waiting and saving but a 15202or is really the upper limit. I would only be wearing this when I know I won't be involved in any scratch inducing activities. As I have a small-ish and round wrist, the 41mm is out for me. If you think a rose gold RO is sacrilege then I have added an option for that as well 15300/15450:15202:25960 (I'd buy with a bracelet for both options):Go classic steel 15202:Any views or feedback appreciated
Pre-v buckle vendors
Hi, I'm looking a Panerai style pre-v polished buckle 22mm for my 111. Does anyone have any vendors they'd recommend? I'm considering the OEM buckle, but don't want to spend $280 for one. Thanks ,
It's 5:00 somewhere...
Cheers...
