Watches NEWS
Just bought back my first watch!
In April 2005 we stopped in Roatan, Honduras (or could have been Belize as we stopped in both ports) for a day on a cruise ship and a being a relatively new port watch and jewellery shops were just opening up. From memory there was a new Columbian Emeralds store which stocked Omega which I went in.I bought an Omega Seamaster Professional 300m. Automatics were around ?900 and the battery/manual ?750 once exchanged but I didn't know this at the time. The shop had only just opened and I ended up buying an automatic but only paid ?750 - it was only later that on other islands and checking out the prices that I'd worked out the correct prices and that they had sold me the more expensive watch for the cheaper price. I had really wanted a Rolex but couldn't afford one. Anyway a few months later we were going on another Caribbean cruise with my parents and I ended up pushing the boat out and buying a Yachtmaster Rolex. I sold the Omega to one of the guys I worked with for the price I paid and
The new one unveiled at the ATL GTG today
I was not disappointed:These are phone shots from the ATL GTG. The top one still has the sticker on the crystal.I'll try to post some better photos and a review in a day or so. Bill will have a photo or two taken at this GTG which was well attended BTW. Lots of great guys, great watches, good food and fellowship. I'm already looking forward to the next one in October.
Issue with 176...
I bought a used K series 176 a few years ago. I had it serviced in 2015. Now it won't fully wind. After about 30 or so turns of the crown it slips, I can hear it, and keeps winding, never topping out. I took it back to the AD and they said something about the barrel, which makes sense, and it will cost $100 + to fix.Is this to be expected after only a couple of years? The bbl had been replaced at the service. And it's not even close to a daily wearer. I like it and want to keep it, but I hope it doesn't become a service headache. Besides, I have nice strap collection.
Owning DJ 41 round and flute Bezel
Hello everybody, I am currently owning DJ 41 round bezel and tempting to get another one with flute bezel. I am not so sure if that is a good idea or i should diversify a bit more to other brand/model. Does anyone here own more than one DJ 41 model?PS. I am currently looking to add some more dress watch into my collection. Your comments are highly appreciated. Thxxxx
History and details of no date submariners?
I'm on the hunt for my first Rolex, and I think it will be a no date submariner. I can't seem to find a great online reference of the different models of no dates and what might be different about them depending on the year of production etc. Any tips for a good reference or tips in general?
