Will The IsoSpring Steal Away The Tick-Tick-Tick Of Your Wrist Watch?
It seems that 2014 is the year of announcements for revolutionizing the wrist watch as we know it. Some of these claims will take time to prove (read: smartwatches), but others do seem to be truly reinventing bits and pieces of the movements that make up the mechanical wonders that we know and love. We brought you word of the first change here?(with the Genequand system concerning?the balance wheel), and today we have word of a replacement for the venerable escapement C the IsoSpring. As you may likely?be aware, the ticking noise you hear your watch making comes from the interaction of the escapement, more specifically, the repeated contact between the pallet fork and the escape wheel. Every time the balance wheel changes direction, the whole thing comes to a (temporary) stop, and then starts back up again once the balance wheel is in motion. Obviously, this stopping and starting is not the most efficient use of the energy stored in the barrel. One estimate of the best efficiency we see
Patek Philippe Titanium 5004T For Only Watch 2013 (2,950,000 Euros)
For the?Only Watch 2013 charity auction, Patek Philippe has produced a one-of-a-kind version of the discontinued ref. 5004 in titanium called the 5004T. While Patek Philippe has produced titanium watches in the past, they are exceedingly rare and none that I can find have been produced as part of a series. That means that all titanium Patek Philippe watches so far have been piece unique models. The last that I know of is the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712T in titanium that was actually produced also for the Only Watch auction in 2007. It yielded an auction price of 525,000 Euros. The 5004T is a relatively small watch for men at 36.7mm wide. In my opinion Patek Philippe's follow-up model to the 5004 was the 5204 from 2012 (that I wrote about here). The 5204 contained the same mixtures of split second chronograph and perpetual calendar complications, and arrived in a 40mm wide 18k white gold case with beautiful oxidized black hands and hour numerals. It arrived just a year or so after Patek
Leather band with deployment clasp for Colt Automatic
i am looking to purchase a leather bracelet with deployment clasp (this is a must) but i do not want to spend the money for Breitling bracelet - who makes good aftermarket bracelets at a decent price?
Any love out there for the Railmasters?
With it's sublime matte dial, painted markers, and brushed steel bracelet,(but looks equally great on a strap), I always thought this was a great collection. Bonus that it draws inspiration from the original Railmasters of the 1950s. Show em' if you got em'!
Too soon? Nah, its the 3-month whistle to SIHH. Predictions?
Lots going on internally these days at Panerai and other brands making it an unpredictable time. What do you think we'll see at SIHH 18? Whatever you're thinking, get it out. It could be a safe prediction or a seemingly outlandish one. That said, if you have nothing nice to say...you know the rest. I'll hold back for now. Last year I somehow managed two predictions that came true, though one is yet to be released.
