Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends July 4, 2014
The watch industry is a complicated one and it is in a unique phase right now. China, which has been a fertile ground for so many brands in the past couple of years, is slowing down. And this is a cause of concern to some industry watchers. But this is just one of the many problems that the industry is facing, and in this month's roundup, we try to analyze and explain just what is going on in the watch industry right now. That aside, we also spend some time with new watches from Bulova, Seiko, Frederique Constant, Ancon and Rolex. And finally, we have a chat with the revered Kari Voutilainen, and also talk to Maria Doulton, the founder of The Jewellery Editor, to find out how emotions and stories play a part in our decisions to buy watches.1. Explaining What's Wrong With The Watch Industry In 2014If you have been collecting watches or have been reading up on watches for any extended period of time, you would know that the watch industry is complicated, secretive, and hard to predict. 42 vs 45.5 PO
I am really going around with what option I like better between the 42mm case and the 45.5mm case Planet ocean. Are there any differences in the lines, look, etc other than the size difference?
Really like the Speedmaster, but what about water resistance?
Hi all,I have really taken a liking to the Omega's even though I am a Rolex kind of guy. The Omega Speedmaster really is a nice piece as far as looks (though I have never actually tried one on). I am looking into getting one, but I often spend time in the water (or with my hand in my coral reef aquarium). My question is this: I have read that the Speedmaster has a depth rating of 30m/100ft, is that rating meant for me to actually swim with it? (I have checked out the chart in the sticky) What about submersing it for only a few seconds at a time in a saltwater fish tank? I can't be bothered with taking my watch on and off every time I need to stick my hand in my tank (which is often). I just wanted some insight from those of you who have either used in such an environment, or those of you who have worked on them and understand their real world ratings. Thanks much!Ed
Need to vent
Just tired of my AD. I have spent good money there 50k-100k in the last 5 years. It seems I get little to no respect. When I ask for a hot item - sorry, there's nothingNope can't do itWould it be so hard to sayyou will be the 1st/2nd/3rd person we reach out toWe will call you as soon as we knowIt seems they play favorites, and I'm not one of them. Sorry rant over.
