My First Grail Watch: Pierre Jacques Of De Bethune
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Pierre Jacques, the CEO of De Bethune.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Pierre Jacques (PJ): I am Pierre Jacques, the CEO of De Bethune. Prior to joining them, I worked as a Branch Manager of Les Ambassadeurs Genve, and also headed the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix as director of the organizing company. And before all of that, I founded GMT Magazine in 2000.ABTW: When did your fascination with watches start?PJ: Watchmaking is a passion, and I can't remember when it started - maybe when I broke my PD (editor's note: a savings account) to buy a Kelton? Couple pics of some stuff I tried on yesterday
I apologize in advance for the bad cell phone pics, the champagne got the best of me at the boutique. I have to say though the new seamaster felt really good on my wrist. Almost had a hard time putting my Rolex back on after trying on all the Omegas. I can't wait until they're for sale.
A question for Speedy pro owners
Hi all,I recently acquired a speedy pro and noticed that I can hear it ticking from about 8 inches away.Do others notice this or just me?
A visit to the AD
Went to my AD to drop off my 5711. It developed the sticking date issue. I guess I won't see it until next year.I did get to play with a few pieces and wanted to share with you guys. I tried on the 5890r and the 5164. Both amazing pieces and I can see both pieces in my collection in the future. I love the heft of the 5980 but Patek did an amazing job matching the RG case with the dial and strap. I like the 5164's added thickness and heft compared to the 5167. So my list for my next Patek keeps getting longer: 5164, 5205g, 5170g, and 5960p. Which one should be next?
