Ophion 960 Review
In the world of affordable watches, there's a lot of variation in terms of design and concept, giving us lots of watches to be interested in, talk about and occasionally pursue for purchase. But within those watches, there is little variation in the mechanical movements driving them. Under $1,000 is dominated by Seiko and Miyota these days with the occasional Swiss or Chinese offering. Over $1,000 and you see the Swiss regulars, ETA and Sellita, with the occasional Soprod, and the rare in-house movement. Nothing wrong with any of them, but seeing the same movements over and over can get a bit stale, if only from my perspective as a reviewer. So, when I heard that a new brand called Ophion was using a TechnoTime movement I had never seen before, I was immediately very excited. Based out of Spain, Ophion decided to really do something interesting, manufacturing their watch in Germany, using a Swiss TechnoTime manual wound movement with a 5-day power reserve, and charging a remarkable 1,30
Speedmaster Reduced Metal Bracelet
Hi,Anyone know the brand new price of a Speedmaster Reduced metal bracelet from AD or from the popular grey sellers here? Will consider also a pre-owned bracelet if one is available somewhere at a reasonable price. My wife's Speedy leather bracelet developed some cracks over the years. Also, she wanted a metal bracelet to match my Speedy Pro :)
Electric Blue SMP
Tonight I played with a nautical theme for my electric blue Seamaster Professional quartz watch. As my friend, Fr. John says, the electric blue just smiles at me. Cheers, Bill P.
What can you tell me about this watch
I have an opportunity to purchase this Patek Philippe platinum watch (I don't believe it comes with box or papers), and I was wondering if any of you experts could tell me a little about the watch and what it might be worth used. I'm normally a Rolex/Omega guy, and I don't know much about Patek watches. Thanks in advance for your help!
Warning... Panerai Service (TX) returned my panerai with case damage...
Heard a lot of bad things about the service center in TX. Despite hearing all the bad things about them, never thought they could botch a simple bezel replacement (deeply scratched my 8 Days bezel on cement and nobody else has OEM bezels... ). Anyways, got it back and while the bezel looks great and the polish job is excellent (they even removed the screwdriver scratches from frequently changing straps), they left a pretty deep / gnarly set of DEEP scratches on the back of the case right near the screwdown back ... like someone was trying to unscrew or pry the back off with a pocket knife ?? clearly happened pre-polish so obviously not shipping/handling issues. Not even sure if I'll even send a complaint... I'm not planning on ever selling this piece (still love it).... or getting another Panerai ever again for that matter .
