Comco Opens New Swatch Group Investigation
The Swiss Competition Commission (Comco) has announced that it is opening an investigation against Swatch Group arising out of the Group’s plan to stop supplying mechanical watch movements and components to third parties. Comco said yesterday that the purpose of the investigation is to determine whether Swatch Group’s decision is an abuse of its dominant market position and so a violation of the cartel law. In a press statement, Swatch Group said that it initiated the Comco investigation itself in an effort to find a mutually agreeable solution to allow the Group to reduce its deliveries to third parties, which Swatch Group says is in the interest of the entire watch industry. The parties have agreed that Swatch Group will be allowed to decrease deliveries next year.In September 2009, WatchTime reported that Comco had opened an investigation into ETA’s business practices, and in December of that year, then-CEO Nicolas G. Hayek Sr. stated in an interview We no longer i
Bring a Loupe: A Knockout Selection Of Vintage Chronographs From Eberhard, Heuer, And Universal Geneve
This week's Bring A Loupe is mostly about chronographs, one of the most useful (if not the most useful) complications out there. I could not resist featuring a couple of Heuer and Universal Geneve; they simply look too good! You will also find a rare Eberhard Contograf with an interesting date display, and a smaller Submariner from Tudor. This is your Bring A Loupe for December 4, 2015. A Heuer Camaro 73443, With Exotic Dial 1 OF 10 A Heuer Camaro had already made its way into our favorite watches under $5,000. While this example might set you above this budget, it really demonstrates the appeal of the Camaro, especially this reference 73443 with the date at 6 o'clock. Frankly, this is one of the best looking and best preserved Camaros I have seen in a long time, with a stunningly sharp case, and a warm patina that nicely complements the two orange hands. In addition, it comes with the original Gay Freres bracelet, sporting the correct HLA endlinks. This w
Can you help me ID this pocket Patek P?
This is what's written on it: Patek Philippe & CieGeneveF. Michaelsen. RomeNot sure about opening it up to show the movement... I don't want to mess it all up.Thanks in advance. How much would it be nowadays? I'm thinking about bringing it to maintenance.
UK Panerai price increase
Unfortunately, this is not one of those doom and gloom 'might be a price increase' threads. It has happened. I was just looking at the UK website and saw that the 233 is now ?10,400, my beloved 533 has increased from ?10,800 to ?11,300 and the 311 has gone from ?14,400 to an eye-watering ?15,300. No real surprises given that Richemont increase their prices annually. Montblanc and Cartier have also increased in the UK. However, and quite interestingly, the 533 is the same price out here as what is was when I first started hunting Panerai back in about June 2016 at S$19,150. The UK has had two Panerai price hikes since. Someone talk me through that one
what size ss bracelet will fit my Tudor 79270?
What size stainless steel bracelet do I need for a Tudor 79270? I want a different than stock - I have one that is NOS, but I want to wear other bracelets with this chronograph from time to time. Do I need to buy 20mm (which is stock size), or will other sizes fix - 19mm? 18mm?
