Jaeger LeCoultre Launches The Record Challenging Master Ultra-Thin Squelette Collection
Jaeger LeCoultre has just announced one of the thinnest, if not the thinnest, mechanical wristwatches ever made: the Master Ultra Thin Squelette. The watches in this family of timepieces are built around the well known ultra thin Jaeger LeCoultre caliber 849, known in this iteration as the 849SQ (squelette, or skeleton) and the movement itself remains 1.85 mm thick. The big news is however that the watch itself, overall, is only 3.6 mm thick, in the thinnest version. 1 OF 4 Several sharp eyed readers picked up on this when the press release went out, although Jaeger LeCoultre is sedulously avoiding making any world-record claims – however for comparison, we note that the Piaget Ultra-Thin 900P is overall 3.65 mm in height, the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Jubilee (2014) is 4.05 mm in height, and the Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques 1955 is 4.13 mm in height (it is worth noting that the latter uses the VC caliber 1003, which is 1.64 mm thick as opposed to 1
Worth the effort for third year warranty?
My newly acquired 15300st has nearly the full 2-year warranty remaining. I've registered it, but not sure about getting the third year added. As I understand it, you have to send it to AP for the pressure test to get the additional year.Reluctant to go through that when it is unlikely to be an issue - my RO won't get any wrist time in or around open water. Those duties will be handled by the Rolex brigade. Thoughts guys?
It's Official: I'm a fanboy
The more I explore, the more I like Omega. I had no intention of buying anything today. I went in to pick up a strap. Got the strap for my AT. And it's awesome. Should not have tried these on. Got one for me, one for my wife. Going to sell off another to even things out, but such is life.
