Get Em Early: A Marketing Plan For Raising Watch Lovers
While at Baselworld 2012, I had an interesting idea. It wasn't totally unique, and I certainly didn't come up with it originally. I did however stumble upon a solution for a huge problem with the watch industry and a great way to solve it. Something that to my knowledge isn't really being done with any seriousness today. It has to do with getting more people to wear and want watches, and how to approach a post need-based watch economy.By post need-based I mean that technically speaking, people no longer must wear watches to tell the time. People most certainly still need to know the time, but there are simply other options (perhaps not as convenient) in addition to a wrist watch that will tell you the time. This wasn't always the case. It used to be that if you wanted to tell the time, you either needed to own a wrist watch, or remain within very close proximity to a clock. And carrying around a grandfather clock in a Radio Flyer wagon behind you wasn't very practical. Essentially, e
HourTime Show Podcast Episode 4 - Tourbillons, Dos/Donts, Holiday Shopping + a Contest!
Episode 4 of the quickly growing HourTime watch chat podcast show is up. This time we talk about why all the fuss with tourbillon watches, dos and don'ts with watch wearing, and the beginning of our holiday watch buying tips.We start out with learning about what tourbillons are, what they do, why they exist, then why they were "forgotten" for years and years and their sudden comeback. Then we get into why wear a watch at all - not the same as checking the time on your cell phone. Wearing a watch on the underside of your wrist is a topic. Next, fake watches, don't get us started! Wearing your watch at the gym? Then, we talk about the watch industry and watch news (where do you get your watch news). The Holidays are coming up, so where should you go to buy your watches for gifts? We share some tips on what to look for when buying online. Also, HourTimeShowwatches-dealer is giving away a free Automatic Chrono Swatch Watch. You'll need to listen to the show and comment for a chance to w
Omega Speedmaster Apollo 16
Hello.I am currently living in south Spain and on the usual watch hunt.I have noticed an original Omega Speedmaster Apollo 16 watch for sale in great original condition and with all paperwork and boxes. After some re-search these appear to be very rare and I cant find any for sale. Does anyone on here have more info, it appears about 100 were made?If there was one for sale now what would you expect the value to be on it?Thanks
My first panerai (388)
Received my first Panerai today. Sold the Presidential back to the original owners family (which is nice they can keep it in the family. Had it for 4+yrs) and picked up a gorgeous 388. It was a pleasure doing business with DonnieD. I can't stop taking pictures and staring at it. I was going to do some day trading again and pick up another Presidential but based on this experience, I might just stick with PAM's :) Is there anything I should know about it? Any hints for a newbie Paneristi? It's only 1 yr old and came with everything :) Don even threw in another strap and the strap tool!A
Fair trade, SubC for Explorer II?
Hi, I've been a long time lurker/reader & have learnt a lot from the forum.Thought it's about time I joined the forum.I'm a one watch guy. I currently have a Ceramic Sub that I bought brand new in early 2014. Lately I've been feeling I need a change and I'm being pulled towards an Explorer II 216570.A pre-owned dealer has offered a trade for my Sub + 400 from me for a full set mid-2017 Explorer II.Would this be considered a fair trade?Am I mad even considering letting the Sub go? One thing I feel I should add is that I no longer have the box and warranty card for my watch. We had a break in a few years back, the B and P were taken then.I hope I haven't broken any forum rules by asking this question.
