The IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar In White Gold With A Blue Dial
I spent the day hanging out with IWC in Schaffhausen working on a little video project that will be ready in about a month. But, while bumming around bugging everyone from the museum curator to Kurt Klaus himself, I came across what is just seriously a beautiful watch. I'm talking about the IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar In White Gold With A Blue Dial. 2 OF 4 Now if you know anything about IWC and its history with perpetual calendars, you know that Mr. Klaus designed the first QP back in 1985 that was fully operational by just the crown - that means no pushers at all. The movement inside this Portuguese is no different, and the day, month, moonphase, and year are all completely in sync, always. That means if you stop wearing the watch and it stops running, you don't have to set each indicator individually, but rather, just set the date with the crown and all else with adjust itself accordingly. But that much, I knew before seeing this Portuguese with blue
New Year sales Omega question ?
Been doing some research on Omega after seeing how much love there has been on this Forum over the last few months.Got a Seamaster 300m GMT(black face) in my sights after numerous postings and pictures by Lol X and Perdu.....fantastic watchAlso got a feeling for a Speedy Pro if I can get a good price in the sales. Narrowed it down to two, and I just need some advice from any Omega experts/fans out there.....Can any of you tip the balance one way or the other ?Watch 1....3870.50.31 Black croc strap, hesalite crystal, caliber 1861.Watch 2....3873.50.31 Black croc strap, sapphire crystal, caliber 1863.The second watch has a clear caseback as well.Is sapphire better than hesalite ? And is there any actual difference in the two calibers ?D-Day is Friday 28th December.........Thanks for any help you can give.
start rant Rolex is not an investment
With so many posts about Rolex as investments I wanted to share a good rule of thumb that I use myself. I feel this applies to 99% of situationsIt's a mass produced watch. It will go down in value as soon as you buy it. Give or take a little, estimate 25%-30% drop in value from msrp depending on the watch. The great part about a Rolex is that you can cash out of your investment easier than with other watch brands. However, YOU still need to sell it. Remember, on the forums you're competing with trusted sellers, etc so you'll have to price below them to compete and you'll likely have a bit more wear on your piece then they normally do on theirs. Over the long-term, used watch prices will follow the current msrp trends so maybe in about 10 years your watch may actually be selling in the used market for around your original purchase price (msrp). In addition, you'd have to factor in insurance costs which for my 116710 is $68 per year. At 10 years of ownership I've paid $680 in addition
118239 Glacier Blue????????
Was the Glacier Blue dial ever offered on the 118239 or is this an aftermarket dial?
Is the BLNR really just a poor substitute for a Pepsi or Coke?
If the Pepsi or Coke were reintroduced in SS then BLNR prices would most likely drop lower than the all black bezel.
