Introducing: The Sarpaneva Northern Lights Limited Edition In A Smaller, Red Gold Case (Interview, Details, Live Pics)
Did you look up at the sky last night? If not, you just missed a totally amazing lunar eclipse. It was not just any eclipse – it was a complete lunar eclipse with a super moon, or perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system, as the astronomers like to call it. Of course a syzygy – alignment of the sun, the earth, and the moon – happens every new and full moon, but to have an eclipse when the full moon is at its closest to the Earth is something that will not happen again until October 8, 2033. For the occasion of what is also referred to as a blood moon, HODINKEE sent journalist Mr. Anders Modig to moon-phase, moon-face maestro Stepan Sarpaneva, the independent watchmaker based in Helsinki, Finland. Just before the eclipse, Sarpaneva was freaking out. 1 OF 7 “In general I am super-sensitive to the moon, strange vibrations. This whole week I have really felt the moon rising. And now there is an eclipse coming? I don’t want to think about it;

5712 Incoming!
As some of you may know I have had a few 5712s. My first Patek was the 5712g, a very understated and imo underappreciated watch. Last August I bought a 5712a which I planned to wear for my wedding and didn't. Regardless, I loved it. Ended up trading it for a larger acquisition. Everything happens for a reason, Today, I am happy to announce that I have completed my 5712 desire with a new and sealed 5712a Tiffany. It seems that throughout my years of collecting, it's the pieces I have ended up with three times are the ones that are meant to be. That being said, cheers to the 5712 that will remain.JPS

My first PAM!
Hey guys!I've always been a Rolex owner (16610 and 116710), but recently I'd been looking for a PAM292. I tried one on at an AD not long ago, and suddenly my interest sparked in Panerai. I didn't get into the Luminor though, and so Radiomir it was!However, after not managing to find the right one at the right price here in Egypt, I took a little time to think. During that time I did some more research and, after seeing a lot of photos of broken/chipped ceramic watches and learning a little more about the tool origins of a Panerai, I decided a steel watch would be better.After all, it is a tool watch and is supposed to be able to take a beating. I decided to look for a PAM183 instead and, not long after, I found one!It's a second-hand O series in great shape, and I was able to directly trade my 2003 Y series steel Submariner for it.Here it is, but more photos later when I get home and pull out the macro lens!What do you think?
