Hands-On: The A. Lange & S?hne 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst, With Bonus Highlights From The Lange Manufactory In Glashtte
Just a few days ago, we brought you news of a new watch from A. Lange & Söhne: the Handwerkskunst version of the 1815 Tourbillon. Let's be blunt. This is a gorgeous watch that costs $181,000 and most of us are just going to have to be happy that we live in a world where something this uncompromisingly beautiful exists, instead of actually owning one, but the watch is so good that appreciation rather than ownership doesn't actually seem that painful. Let's have a look up close and personal. 1 OF 27 The 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst was introduced at a ceremony held for international press and other guests at the Dresden Semperoper, which originally opened in 1841, with a design by architect Gottfried Semper. It's had, like much of Dresden, a pretty tempestuous history; it was gutted by fire in 1869, and rebuilt; it was almost totally destroyed, again by fire, following the bombing of Dresden in 1945, but was rebuilt once again and re-opened in 198
I can get just one PP, so 5711 Blue dial or 5130P?
The 5711 is so popular that I can't even get on a waiting list at ADs.And the premiums that are being asked on the gray market for a 5711 are incredible. So, I am actually considering getting another PP, the 5130P WT instead. I have no world timer watch or even a GMT watch, so the 5130 would add a new aspect and variety to my collection, although I would never travel with it.Then again, should I wait and see about trying to get a 5711, even though the prices are climbing as I type? I know that I have to ultimately decide for myself, but am curious what others would choose, if the option was between a 5711 or a 5130?
Trade Up Two For One?
Lately I've subscribed to the one dress watch/one play watch/whatever else matters not theory. I have a Calatrava and an Aquanaut, and whatever else is my Cartier Roadster 40th birthday gift.I've been contemplating adding a Rolex Sub or DJ2. I love Rolex, have none at the moment, and really miss having one. But the reality is, with the Aquanaut on the winder, I can't justify two play watches (just the phase I'm going through). Yes, I know some love the variety and wear them in rotation, but that's not my thing right now.To further complicate matters (my first world problem), the Aquanaut does not have me over the moon like I expected. My feelings range from this is it! to this is it? I'm usually happy with it and think I'll keep it...But then I begin to think...(drum roll)Would It be best to trade the Calatrava and Aquanaut for a complication (annual calendar)?I would then have one dressy Patek AC and add a Rolex (depending on how much I had left over) as a play watch.Of course the oth
GMT2 Date Change Question
So... I tried searching and couldn't find an answer.. When setting the date on my BLNR it would change dates when I advance the hour hand pass 11pm instead of 12pm.. It only does it if my minute hand is past 30.. if the minute hand is before 30 it will change dates after I pass 12pm. Is this normal?
