Chopard L.U.C XPS Watch Available On James List
At the 2011 Oscars, best actor Colin Firth was wearing a Chopard L.U.C XPS watch - could you ask for a classier tuxedo watch? The L.U.C XPS of this type first came out in 2009, and if it were not for the "Chopard" name, I would think it was a Dell computer. This is also one of Chopard's answers to the thin elegant watch question. The L.U.C XPS has a Chopard L.U.C 12.96 automatic movement and is still just 7.13mm thick. While Chopard offers the watch in 18k rose or white gold, it is really the white gold version with the black dial that you want. The thin bezel makes the 39.50mm wide case feel larger than it is, and the alligator strap adds a bit of glossy luxury on the wrist. Chopard designed the dial to be minimalistic but highly functional. It is like a dressy version of what Panerai design is going for. One version of the dial has the time with subsidiary seconds dial using dauphine hands, matched to a mixture of baton hour markers with stylized Roman numeral hour markers. Dauphine h
New Arrival!!
Hi all,It has been a while since I added a new AP to my collection. I just received this piece a few hours ago and I was a little anxious since I have not seen this piece in person. It has been quite busy at work so I'll upload more pics this weekend. Since Mike has been teasing us with his new arrival on the Patek forum, I figured I might as well tease you guys with this shot.
Buying an unsealed watch
To the knowledgeable PP lovers-I'm purchasing my first Patek and have a question. Is there a difference in purchasing a double sealed piece versus one that is already opened and available for trying on? Is there potential for a discount on a piece in the showcase versus a sealed safe queen? To clarify I'm buying from a PP AD. Thanks in advance.
Opinions on my first Panerai model...
So I've seen a lot of threads in the past regarding which Panerai one should start their collection with. Most commonly people refer to 47mm Panerai Luminor 1950. I get that this probably the closest to what is considered the classic Panerai piece. Please indulge me with the same question but with more specific criteria and your opinions. First off, I own the watches listed in my signature. I am looking for something different. This puts the Submersible or GMTs as being a redundant pieces for me and it also means I want nothing on a bracelet. When I think of Panerai I definitely want a leather strap. I am looking for something around 44 to 45mm, costing between 5-8k (obviously stainless steel), and would prefer hand wound as opposed to automatic. I am on the fence if I want to go Radiomir or Luminor. I know I could plug these criteria into the website and get a list of options but I am looking for expert opinions and reasons. My first three watches were must owns for me, this
