Olio Model 1 Smartwatch From New Company With Top Talent
Olio was first introduced to me in a conversation with a venture capitalist who said, "there is someone I want you to meet who is working on a high-end smartwatch up in San Francisco." As soon as I learned that said individual was near Silicon Valley and not in Switzerland, I was immediately intrigued. The definition of "high-end smartwatch" in California certainly differs from what it means in Geneva. I'd venture a guess that the former implies some proficient level of functionality and engineering, whereas the latter all to frequently implies a chic design with gold, and sometimes diamonds. So my mind was open and all I knew was that someone would eventually be reaching out to me from a company call Olio. Some brief research on Olio resulted in extra excitement merely based on the members of the Olio development team. Steven Jacobs - Olio's founder - heralds from Apple and Hewlett Packard in their hardware development groups, and other members of the Olio team come from places such as
Classic Styling Incarnate: The Bell & Ross Geneva 123 Watch
Sometimes I can't help but express my fondness for a watch. Those particular models that stay with you in your mind. Maybe you had your eye on it a while back. It's not that you lost interest, but perhaps other watches came and went in the meantime. And after all is said and done, those reliable watches are always there to make you happy. Before the Bell & Ross BR-01 instrument was a different flavor of Bell & Ross. A more innocent time when Bell & Ross was still finding itself. The Bell & Ross Geneva 123 is a classic watch. Not by any chronological measure, but rather by the timeless way it seems to go with anything, anywhere. You could blow up the size of the watch and put it on a wall or building and it would be perfectly at home. Legibility is perfect, the sharp hands confidently expressing the time. Black hands on the pristine white face, or polished steel glistening against the serene black, the watch stands out with it sense of being perpetually "in the now."Balan
Review: Techn Sparrowhawk II
The Techn Sparrowhawk II stands out in the inexpensive chronograph market. It is a well-executed aviator with sharp styling, great build quality and the added perk of an interesting movement at its heart. At $269 one does not usually expect something unique, but Techn manages to pull it off. The aviator market is fairly saturated, with offerings from brands across the price spectrum, from Timex to Steinhart to Bell & Ross. It's a look that does not change very much from brand to brand, but the Sparrowhawk II achieves something refined, that is clearly an aviator, yet not derivative. ?Combine this with the Meca-Quartz chronograph within and you can begin to see how the Sparrowhawk II is more that just an affordable watch, it's genuinely innovative.Case: PVD Coated 316L Surgical Stainless SteelMovement: Seiko VK63 Meca-Quartz ChronographDial: Black w/ Off-White indexesLens: Mineral w/ AR coatingCase Back: ScrewdownStrap: Khaki CanvasWater Res.: 100mDimensions: 41.5mmThickness: 11.7
