Grieb & Benzinger Presents Unique “Blue Whirlwind” Tourbillon Minute Repeater
The German watch firm Grieb & Benzinger, known for its one-of-a-kind skeletonized watches with intricate guilloch embellishments, has released its latest, called Blue Whirlwind, a skeletonized tourbillon minute repeater based on a rare Patek Philippe caliber. At the heart of Grieb & Benzinger’s Blue Whirlwind is Patek Philippe’s Caliber RTO 27 PS, a rare, manual-winding movement with a tourbillon and minute repeater mechanism, which was famously used in the stainless-steel Patek Philippe Ref. 3939 donated to the 2011 Only Watch Auction. That watch was the top-selling lot in the entire auction, selling for 1.4 million euros. Here, this complicated movement has undergone more than 15 months of skeletonization and other painstakingly precise horological work. All the skeletonization and guilloch treatment on the movement with 336 components, it is one of the world’s most complicated was done by hand. Hands-On: With The Baume & Mercier Clifton Chronograph (Live Pics & Pricing)
Live from SIHH 2014 we gave you a look at one of the new complications introduced into the Baume & Mercier Clifton collection, the Clifton Retrograde Date Automatic. Baume & Mercier also added a chronograph to the mix. It's a simple three-register chrono with day and date indicators and relatively conservative styling. The details are executed nicely and coming in at under $4,000 it offers a pretty nice complete package at a reasonable price. When Baume & Mercier launched the Clifton collection this time last year, the initial offerings included time-only, GMT, and complete calendar models. They all shared 1950s-style Arabic numerals mixed with teardrop-shaped batons on the dials, simple but robust case shapes, and quality (if not particularly unique) movements. Aside from the case sizes being a little larger than we'd like ideally (41-43mm), these are modern watches that really appeal to someone who likes a vintage aesthetic. 2 OF 13 The Clifton Chrono

I found a classic Deville Seamaster, midsize at my watch shop in town. Its as new and has the box and book. I thinking about getting it, do you guys think 500 is a fair price? Thanks Ron
Fresh from the Patek "spa"
My wife bought me a second hand Gondolo for our 10th wedding anniversary. It really is a beautiful watch with a lovely form and clear dial - but I always like to get used watches serviced. It has been gone for 4 months and had a new hour hand, new glass, new strap and a spring of some description inside the works. I also asked for an Extract from the Archives - which turns out to be a beautiful certificate showing the serial numbers of your case & works, the date of manufacture and date of first sale. A nice souvenir in place from the original papers - oh and the dealer gave me a nice Patek magnifying glass. It really is like a new watch - I'm almost frightened to wear it !I hope you enjoy my poor phone pictures.
