Breaking News: Phillips To Hold Stainless Steel Chronographs Only Sale This Coming May (Early Look)
Nobody knows how to put on a more interesting watch auction than Aurel Bacs & Co. at Phillips – this much we know. But, after last May's very successful, if perhaps a little staid, thematic Day-Date sale, I think we were all hoping Phillips would come, guns blazing, back into its next thematic sale – and they did, and then some! This May, Phillips will host an evening sale of just chronographs. Stainless-steel chronographs. There isn't a hotter category in the world, and we have a look at some of the early lots – and boy, is this one going to be a killer. The first watch you'll notice at top is one you may know – it's the Rolex reference 4113 – otherwise known as the mack-daddy of the Rolex world. Why? Because it's a freaking 44 mm split-seconds chronograph from Rolex made in only 12 examples! The 4113 is the holy grail reference in the world of Rolex, and Phillips has one. Estimate is 800 to 1.4 million CHF. 1 OF 6 Tropi
Jumping on the forged carbon bandwagon...
Like many here I panicked when I heard that AP was phasing out forged carbon in favor of ceramic, so I put my order in figuring that this was my last chance to score my dream diver.Well, as we all know, it was a false alarm, but even so, I knew that this was a watch that would go the distance in my collection, so I stayed the course, and boy am I glad that I did...Sigh...It wears like a dream......and if I'm being honest here, it's a completely different beast than the stainless steel diver. Indeed, they could both live quite happily with one another in the same collection. Alas, I doubt I'll be able to do just that, given my finances, however if I could, you can bet that I would. Here's a parting shot with another famous yellow diver:Love it!!!Regards,AdamPS - Apologies for the crappy office lighting and iPhone photos.

Hoping the fine folk on TRF can help me or point me in the right direction, Mr Ed Sheeran has been wearing his PP cap on his current world tour and has kind of made me want one! I should hopefully get the call for my 5167 this year but until then I need to fill the PP hole in my life and I think a cap could just do that. I don't suppose anyone has one for sale?

What is the custom's tax for a Submariner bought in Europe?
Yesterday I flew into San Francisco from Germany walked up to a custom's officer at the airport and asked to pay the federal import tax on a watch. He at first was a bit shocked as I was standing several feet from the exit but after I picked up my bag there were no signs as to where to pay the tax. In my readings I had read of a severe penalty for not paying the tax. When I was finally asked to place my bags on the counter the officer started to say the tax is free for the first $800 and then 6.25% on the balance. She also confidently told me they knew how to find the cost of the watch. The percentage she told me sounded incorrect as I had read on several threads it was about 3-4 %. Today I went to the Federal customs website and it appears that a steel, automatic watch has a tax of 3.1%. A watch with diamonds or made of a precious material is 6.25%.Can anyone confirm the correct tax percentage for a Rolex Steel Sub?I repeatedly asked the agents for a final detailed account. They told m
