New at Basel: Chopard Classic Manufactum with In-House Movement
Chopard has added a new collection, simply called Classic, to its portfolio, with the first watch in the new line, the Classic Manufactum, making its debut at the Baselworld watch fair. The understated design of the watches is inspired by the pocketwatches of the Belle Epoque, which helped establish the reputation of brand founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard. The classicism of the design starts with the porcelain-type dial and its shiny black Roman numerals and extends to the small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock, which features a railtrack graduation typical of vintage pocketwatches of the era; and the slender gold-toned hands. The 38-mm-diameter case is available in 18k rose, white or yellow gold and features an 18k gold crown and an exhibition caseback. The Classic Manufactum also contains a new movement, automatic Chopard Caliber 01.04-C, which was entirely developed in-house and produced in the workshops of Fleurier Ebauches, which makes the movements not destined for Chopard’s L.U.C
What Do The Patek Philippe 3582 & The Apple Watch Have In Common?
I've been enjoying the Apple Watch for more than a few days at the time this post was written C and it has got me thinking a lot about not just the future of electronic wrist watch functionality, but also watch design overall. What I've been most interested in is not only how smartwatch design will continue to evolve, but also what design precedents came before the Apple Watch that either helped inspire it or that it appears to coincidentally resemble. So, with that in mind, I felt it was a good idea to put together this fun little article on the odd similarities between the obscure Patek Philippe Ellipse Ref. 3582 (3582G) and the Apple Watch. I am actually rather convinced Apple was not at all inspired by the Patek Philippe 3582 during the design of the Apple Watch C so I am not suggesting that this rare Patek Philippe Ellipse is some type of direct design ancestor of the Apple Watch. Rather, I am suggesting that watch design is both cyclical and so diverse that it is often inevitable
Rose Gold RO Chrono Black Dial
I am contemplating purchasing this watch on a strap. I am concerned that it is being discontinued. I spoke to some people in the field and they think that this watch will sell for less then half of the present retail value in 5 years. What do you think about the value of this watch in the years to come?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What causes natural fading of GMT bezels?
Is it the sun that naturally fades those beautiful pepsi bezel inserts on the GMT's? Salt water? I assume a new genuine bezel will eventually age gracefully just as the old ones have, do you think that's a reasonable assumption? I'm not in any hurry for mine to fade, I'll let it develop organically, but just wondering what does it, and if it's still viable on a new insert. Thanks for your insights!JCATT
