Bulova Percheron Treble Watch For Manchester United
Last year in 2013, watches-dealer was there when Bulova announced that they would be the official watch sponsor and timekeeper of England's Manchester United Football Club. At the time, there were no particular watches ready to show that honored the new relationship, but at Baselworld 2014 Bulova introduced the Manchester United Treble within their new Percheron collection.I discussed a very special version of the Percheron with the 24k gold model here. Thankfully, Manchester United fans will not be required to spend $42,000 on watches with the logo of their favorite team. The Bulova Percheron Treble collection has three watches specially designed for the Bulova Manchester United relationship, and this ref. 63B195 is my favorite, with its steel case, matching brushed metal dial, and full two-tone Manchester United Logo on the dial.Interestingly enough, while I am not usually a fan of third-party logos on the dials of watches, the Manchester United logo works here. Why? Well, without it
Nautica NMX 400 Watch With Five Movements
This is a big and bold watch if I have ever seen one. Part of me likes the watch, part of me is a bit freaked out by it. The 58mm wide monster from Nautica is certainly inspired by brands like Ikepod and N.O.A. Nautica's result is the brand new Nautica NMX 400 you see before you (which looks nothing at all like the NMX 300). As part of the Timex Group, Nautica has been releasing some quite nice (and reasonably priced) watches as of late. Plus, they can enjoy wide distribution, so this watch won't just be a nice picture , you can actually get one in at a retail location. Still NMX 400 is the oddest of the 2009 watches from Nautica, though it might prove to be surprisingly useful in the right hands.Think of the watch has having two parts. First is the large "Zone 1" face with the larger dial, 12 hour chronograph, and date. Then are the four other "zones" which are literally their own watch faces that you can independent set. Don't ask how many batteries this Japanese quartz movement base
Good Experience at HSWA New York
Not belittling anyone's negative experiences, it just seems that people only post when they have negative experiences, and not positive ones, myself I have had good experiences with the Patek service center in NYC. Went there today with my Annual calendar, it's an older model and the clasp was a bit loose, very courteous and friendly staff, they sat me down in a private waiting room with some nice magazines and Swiss chocolate. They said they would have the repaired while I wait, and that they would pressure test the watch and make sure the oils and seals were good and that it's keeping proper time, I was in and out in about 15 minutes total. Could not have asked for better service.Fortunately my watch is running well, no need for service, as the woman helping me mentioned that since the service times are currently about 8 months, she would recommend waiting until I have any issues before servicing, and that hopefully by the time I need service, the wait times will be shorter.
Just Admiring My YM2
My love of this one i picked up a couple months ago has convinced me to go get the SD43 Anniversary.Incoming next week!
First for me: Rolex stopped running...
In 30 years of wearing Rolex, I have never had one stop running. Some of you that know me, know that I have bought many project watches over the years and done restorations. Some were real beat up but still ran. My first Sub I wore daily and it was pretty thrashed but still kept good time over 12 years without a service. The bezel was bent, the crown broke, but she still kept good time.Reached into the winder this morning to grab my 16750 Polar which is a U serial from 1996/97 ish. She was not running. Reset time and date, gave a full wind, couple taps and shakes and nothing. She is toast. We had guessed that this watch had never been serviced, and she ran a little fast but still ran. Not complaining at all. I believe this watch ran for 20 continuous years without a service. Really a tribute to how well Rolex is made. Guess it is time for a complete service. Next time I go to the city I will drop it off to my buddy who is a CW21 and my go to WS.
