2015 Glashtte Original PanoMaticLunar, PanoReserve Models Updated
Every year, as the tsunami of major new releases of BaselWorld approaches, we also encounter a larger number of updates to existing?models.?One?C well, two C of the more notable ones that were released just today are from Glashtte Original?who announced?two?new-for-2015 versions of both their?PanoReserve and PanoMaticLunar pieces. Both models?see two new versions added to their respective lines of watches, including red gold cased pieces with a matte black dial and a stainless steel cased option with a deep blue dial.?Glashtte Original has debuted its?first "Pano" model in 2000 C in the same year the Swatch Group has taken over the brand C with the PanoRetroGraph. With that limited edition in platinum the Pano line was born, ready to be developed over the course of coming years; building around the original's trademark design elements, such as the off-centered and overlapping sub-dials and the?panorama date aperture. This layout is a given for all "Pano" watches and what's interesting
Hands-On: With the MB&F HMX Tenth Anniversary Watch, And A Second Look At HM6 (Live Pics, Though
This year is the tenth anniversary of one of the most interesting ongoing stories in watchmaking: the horological think-tank and design refinery known as MB&F. The company got its start when Max Büsser, formerly the head of the watch division of Harry Winston (where he helmed, among other things, the genesis of the legendary Opus series of watches) decided to leave the relative security of corporate life in the watch world (I use the world “relative” advisedly) and pursue his own very idiosyncratic vision of horological design. The basic inspiration behind the general design language of MB&F is pretty well known to serious enthusiasts – much of it is derived from Büsser’s own childhood fascination with the seemingly endlessly inventive worlds of fantasy, and science fiction, and he’s mined those worlds very effectively for both specific design cues, and for something more intangible: a marriage of nostalgia and design innovation, with an
Bought a PO, sold the PO and bought another PO...
First I was too excited and bought a 42mm PO8500 in a haste. The PO8500 is a beautiful watch, both on pics and in the flesh. However as I place the PO8500 on my wrist, I knew I would not want to wear her. IMO it sat slightly high for me as it is a thick watch. The greyish ceramic insert seems to not go too well with the deep rich black dial. Finally I sold her to buy the older version, the 42mm PO2500.Disclaimer: To the PO8500 owners out there, the new PO8500 is a solid watch both in terms of the caliber and the looks department and it sure looks handsome in the numerous wrist shots I see. I bought the PO2500 brand new in a brick and mortar shop. As this is an old model, I got a fantastic deal! The PO2500 is more tool like and everything on her seems subtle or probably subdued. The black dial has a tinge of grey charcoal. I esp like the white wordings and numerals on this dial. The black Al bezel insert has nothing to shout about too, just a plain black bezel, no frills.Sitting sl
