Frdrique Constant Official Timekeeper for Peking to Paris Motor Challenge
Frdrique Constant will be the Official Timekeeper and exclusive sponsor of The Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, taking place from September 10th through October 16th, 2010. The first edition of this legendary classic car event took place in 1907. The idea for the race came from a challenge published in the Paris newspaper Le Matin on January 31st 1907. The challenge read: “What needs to be proved today is that as long as a man has a car, he can do anything and go anywhere. Is there anyone who will undertake the challenge to travel from Peking to Paris by automobile?”The route for the 2010 edition of ‘The Ultimate Driving Adventure’ runs from the Great Wall in China, through Mongolia, then briefly into Russia before turning south west into Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and via Turkey, Greece and Italy into France to finish on the famous Place Vend?me in Paris. The trail follows the historic Silk Route and the participating drivers will have days off in f

Service: Reserve times...Omega Moon...Val 72... Rolex...Others
I track the reserve times of my watches. To tell when they need service. But reserve times can be tracked on all watchesI posted the reserve times on three Omegas movements,I own: 1861 & 1866 & 550 for reference.I also have a rare Doxa (1962?), with a Val 72.Posted bellow: are the reserve some of the reserve times.I plan to send the Val 72 to Dalton Toledo, In LA..Los Angeles, California. Not lower Alabama. To have it serviced, soon.I think the Pivots on the balance are wornThere is a problem.Should be about 42-43 hours ?PM me if you want Dalton's info.I would like to know what reserve times people observe on their speedys. This may help people who are not sure when to service a watch. If the reserve times are consistent. No service is indicated. When they are low, or dropping. This shows a problem, or service is needed.Omega, Rolex and others.posts the reserve times; for reference. No two watches will be the same, in real life. And it will very, by temperature.Thank you for your time and
Which Calatrava?
Hello,I am looking to buy my first Patek (being a Rolex guy for many years). I decided to go with a rose gold Calatrava. However, I cannot choose between these 3 models:1. 5123R2. 5127R3. 5296-010RAll 3 have similar dials and hands. However 5123R is a manual movement and was just released this year in Basel but has no date. I want to ask your advise and comments about these 3 watches. Also conc and pros between a manual wind 215 movement versus 324 automatic. The 324 automatic looks nicer to me but may be the manual wind is more robust. Also the 5123 has a snap back while the automatics have a screw in back, which is probable and advantage. Greatly appreciate your comments!
128 Days with my 8 month old BLNR
I've never been much of a stickler for this but many postings on TRF made me think: hmmm, how well is my beautiful BLNR doing in the accuracy department?I was stunned. I expected it to be great but, to me, this is insanely great. 128 days between settings (I had to change my 24 hour GMT hand yesterday because most of the U.S. went on daylight savings time and my home time zone jumped ahead one hour).Summary: 44 seconds gained over 128 days = ~ 1/3 of a second a day. Wow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
