Bell & Ross WW1 Collection Launch Party
Bell & Ross recently presented its new WW1 collection at the historic H?tel National des Invalides whose famed Eglise du Dome houses Emperor Napoleon I's tomb. This new collection, which includes a pocket watch (the PW1) as well as the WW1 wristwatch, traces the evolution of timepieces from the pocket to the wrist. Guests had the opportunity to visit the famous Muse de l'Arme and then gathered in a sumptuous ballroom to enjoy exquisite French cuisine and vintage Champagne. After admiring the watches, the guests could stroll along the walkways overlooking the square courtyard of the Invalides to soak up the historic atmosphere. The nearly 300 guests included media personalities, French military officers, political figures and watch aficionados.
Inside The Manufacture: How Are The Dials Of The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Made?
SIHH is just 10 days away, and the story of this year's show will likely be the 40th anniversary of Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak. While the famed ultra-thin movement (the thinnest in the world with a full rotor), the amazing Genta design, the incredible finishing on the stainless steel case, the fact that the watch essentially created the luxury sport watch category are all great things, the one thing most often overlooked is the unique design to the Royal Oak's dial.Since the very first Royal Oak was sold to the Shah of Iran, and those 1000 A-Series pieces left Le Brassus, they featured dials with a tapisserie pattern on them, a weaving pattern that forms the square and lozenge motif that captures the light and accentuates the timepiece’s "geometric relief." But just how exactly is this pattern created? Well, AP has been subcontracting the production of its Royal Oak dials to one famed dial manufacture all the way from the beginning - Stern Creations. Vintage PloProf Advice
I am the sole owner of a vintage PloProf that I purchased back in 1977 or so from Don Brod's dive shop in Austin, Texas. I want some advice. I used extensively when I was a professional underwater photographer and scuba instructor. My watch had years of use (at least ten years!) and thousands of hours of underwater time. I trusted it with my life and it never failed me. But, being young and having to spend almost all my money on underwater photo gear, I did absolutely no maintenance on the watch. It has been in my safe for at least at least 10 years and I got it out last week and wound it and set the date and it still works like a charm. Keeps perfect time compared to Rolex and Casio G-Shock and the date functions too. The dial is faded, the case is worn with dents and scratches, the crystal has a few scratches. When I was diving a lot the watch was the best piece of safety equipment a diver had. Scubapro had just released it's first dive computer (the old bladder model that tried to
Seamaster Question
I currently own a SS Datejust (36 mm) and a large Cartier Roadster and I am thinking about purchasing a Seamaster 2220.80.00. The problem is I do not have a large wrist. I love my datejust but I know the trend these days is for larger watches. My 39 mm Roadster fits great. The Sedamaster will be a weekend watch for me. Does anyone with a small wrist who owns a 41 mm Seamaster have any advice? Thanks!
Yachtmaster
I don't see too much talk on here about this watch. Is this a less popular model? And also forgive the dumb question, but what crowd/activity is this watch actually aiming toward?
