odd coincidence
I used to fool around with casting precious metals, and about 15 years ago, maybe a bit more, I made myself this ring in the photos. The ring for me was inspired by machined off-road after market motorcycle parts, as I did a bit of racing back then. I put holes in the ring just as an homage to the lightening of parts by drilling, and when I finished it, I didn't want it to have a completed buffed shiny look. Instead I gave it a brushed finish and I had cut some bevels into it, these I decided to polish to a mirror brightness.The rings I designed I liked to have surprises, so on the bottom (palm) side of the ring I mounted a small diamond that could be a secret for the wearer only. After I bought my ROO I remembered this ring that I made, I just dug it up and I thought it was interesting how the design elements matched up. The choice of straight brushed finish on flat areas, and then mirror polish on the bevels was identical. The eight sided bezel echoed the octagon that forms the table

New Omegas
I was in the Omega boutique last week and got a chance to handle the new Planet Ocean GMT. It was a very beautiful watch in person, waaaay better than the pictures. I didn't expect to see it but the orange on the bezel caught my eye so I asked to hold it. I must say the orange bezel looks a lot better in person and the orange hand is painted the same as the orange material of the orange numbers of the POs, so it's very brilliant and beautiful.The bezel turns both ways and the black date wheel which looks incredibly odd and stands out in close up pictures of the dial looks just fine. It has a look as to sort of simulate that the white numbers kind of pop out from a shaded background. It didn't bother me at all the way it does in internet photos.Now that Basel is history we see that it's available in all the normal colors also, this watch will be pretty hot also.The biggest turn off for me is the thickness, still too thick. AARRRRGGG! Frustrated with Omega service!
I am about ready to fly to NY and get my Omega back from the service center. I sent my SMP in because it kept starting and stopping. It's under warranty so I brought it into my AD and they mailed it in the first week of Dec. 2007.They called me two weeks later to tell me the watch was magnetized. How that happened I can't figure out.They informed me they are covering this under warranty and giving it a complete service while it is there, free. Great I thought as it's about $500 to have an SMP chrono serviced. I was told they are closed the week between XMas and New Years but I should expect my watch back by the second week of Jan.2008. No prblem, Great I tell them.I didn't hear from them and I called Jan. 22nd. I was told the watch was in Quality control and I should be getting it back in 7-10 days. OK, fine.Another two weeks go by..Nada. I wait and call them back Feb. 15. I am getting pissed by now. I get a call back saying they are really sorry but part of my free service I never ask
