Eterna Calibre 39 Watch Movement: Valjoux 7750 Alternative And So Much More
No doubt in light of the fact that ETA-made movements are harder than ever to get, Eterna has just announced that they have created a new movement, dubbed the Calibre 39, which is the result of a project that started in 2007. This is potentially a very important announcement for the industry as the Calibre 39 is designed to be both an alternative to many hard to get ETA movements, as well as a strong base caliber for lots of complications. The Calibre 39 is a fully modular movement that has been designed to be as expandable as possible, ranging from a manual two-hander to a column wheel-equipped flyback chronograph. A project that started out with the goal of designing a competitor to the ETA 7750, Eterna has now launched a proposed entire family of movements thanks to a modular design that builds upon a base movement platform. It is worth noting that long ago Eterna actually started ETA.With over 88 different specifications, it is clear that Eterna has put lot of development into the C
Jaeger-LeCoultre Sets Up Dedicated Site For Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie Watch, To Make Case For $2.5 Million Purchase
First of all, I am a big fan of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie watch and the accompanying set. I discussed it at length here when going over the announcement of the Hybris Mechanica. Once again, it is the current most complex watch in the world, comes in a limited edition of just 30 sets, and will cost over $2.5 million. Recently Jaeger-LeCoultre has unveiled the watch itself and the uber display box (the safe), they have also opened a dedicated website to showcase just what the Hybris Mechanica set is all about, focusing of course on the Grande Sonnerie. You can check out the site here. The site is very nice looking and gives you lots of nice little details about the watch that you'd otherwise miss by just looking at it. However, the site is not easy to navigate - another victim of form over function. Just look out for the easy to miss "X" button on the upper right hand corner when you want to go back to the previous page (welcome to a Flash-based nightmare)
Is the PO LM ltd edn worth the money of a PO 8500?
I've rekindled my interest in the Planet Ocean. From what I've seen the PO 8500 is a gorgeous watch but wears too tall. The Liquidmetal limited edition looks stunning as well but appears to be in the market at the same price despite it running the older 2500C cal. Is the Liquidmetal worth the cash?
Two Tone 'Tudes!!
I am curious about the attitudes towards Rolex two tone watches. Seems like most shy away from them in favor of Stainless. I have one, an older 16013 which I like a lot. This year I'll be picking up a second in the form of a CHNR. Some times I see Rolex TT models selling at ADs for less than their stainless counter parts on the secondary market. I know I could have purchase a TT Daytona for less than my stainless 116500. Baffling to me.
Missing pearl on my 14060
I haven't posted in a long time. It's nice to be back. Today I noticed that the pearl on the bezel of my Submariner is missing. I have no idea when and how it fell. I found a few available for sale on Amazon, not sure if they are original Rolex parts (doubt it) but I wanted to ask if you guys recommend to put one of these of should I take my watch for repair. If it's the latter can anyone recommend a reputable repair service in Miami? Sending it to the Rolex center in NY seems like an overkill for this, not to mention the outrageous price they will surely quote me. Thanks for your valuable advice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
